Today's Trip Plan This morning George & Mr. Mavica will take a Ranger Guided walking tour completely around the base of Devils Tower! Then we will be off toward the town of Deadwood, South Dakota.
Did you know that "Dispersed Camping" is permitted thruout the Black Hills National Forest? We might be able to find a Boondock Site very close to Mount Rushmore. It would soooo neat to be able to view from our Boondock Site, the massive fireworks display that is planned on Mount Rushmore on July 3rd!! We are hoping to be able to Boondock within ten miles of Mount Rushmore. The Team has a lot of exploring to do!!
9:30AM Mr. Mavica and George are with the Tour Guide, a young man who is an American Indian and a Park Ranger. He spoke to the group in Indian!
As we walked around the Huge Devils Tower, Mr. Mavica took these pics which pretty much speak for themselves, showing the great beauty and grandeur of the Devils Tower from the base trail.
The pic below is called "The Devils Window" because of the appearance to be an "inset" into the Tower's wall.
Here is "The Devils Window" from near the Campground.
There were eighteen climbers as we toured the base of Devils Tower. Here is a pic of four of them. Can you see them? They look very small from the base.
2PM The Team has crossed the border into a New State for us. We are now in the Grand State of South Dakota! Wow!
In the pic below, George is lunching on a Tuna Salad wrap and a bottle of Sioux City Sarsaparilla!! We found out that Sarsaparilla is "Root Beer!!" The Team is probably the last to find this out about Sarsaparilla!
We will be heading South now on the "Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway." We are looking for a Camp Site, and if we find one we will make camp and not see the Town of Deadwood today.
5:30AM The Tioga and George Adventure Team, is once more Boondocked! Wow! We wanted to be Boondocked for soooooooooooo long, and we could not find a place in Montana! But here in South Dakota, bingo! We found a Nite Camp. And what a NICE Camp it is, in the Black Hills National Forest.
Mr. Mavica went out with his faithful companion TriPod, and took this pic of George and Ms. Tioga.
7PM The George Cup has been flowerless for ages. However, all around our very first CampSite in South Dakota, and voila!! Flowers are everywhere!

TiogaRV Team Mission
To share the vagabonding life with our fellow RVers like yourself. We hope that you will try to boondock and dry camp.
We have found great joy in camping away from the RV Campground. We would like you to try our camping life style yourself.
Sharing with you our Daily Adventure is our way of encouraging you to try to camp as we do.
