5AM
We took a chance, and made Nite Camp at the "Picnic Only" spot where we Supper Camped yesterday evening! Wow! Ms. Tioga looked first thing this morning, to see if there was any "Notice of Parking Violation" under her wiper blade, and nothing was there!

We are SOOOO happy!

9:30AM
We are heading North to Lake Abert, Oregon, where there are about a dozen small lakes shown on our GPS map. We want to see if we are able to explore these small lakes.

1PM
We are Day Camped on County Road 3-10, Hogsback Road. This is the desert, no doubt about it! We did not find the tiny lakes. Maybe they are there hiding? Or they dried up? Below is a pic of Ms. Tioga & George looking at the desert.

3PM
A few hundred yards down Hogsback Road, is a gate supported by two large stone gateposts. George has never seen stone gateposts like these before. The stones are enclosed in a wire mesh. Solid as the Rock of Gibralter! Have any of you seen gateposts like these? Below is a pic of George and these gateposts.

Sundown
Everybody on The Team felt that it would be a very BAD idea to Nite Camp right on Hogback Road where we had Day Camped, because in the dark a driver could hit Ms. Tioga. So we moved to a place where there was a small road leading to a cattle water trough, and made Nite Camp there.

George really likes the desert, when the wind doesn't blow. It is not blowing now.

Below is a pic of our Nite Camp spot, just off Hogback Road.

Tonite, left over chicken enchiladas for Supper! Wow! Yummmm!

9:30AM
What a wonderful place is Cedar Pass Campground! A creek flowing thru it, no cost-it's free, and tons of firewood! Wow!

Cedar Pass Campground is our very last Nite Camp in California until 2006 or 2007, if our Trip Plan turns out! Bye, bye California!

We are heading out now, and may make Camp near Goose Lake, across the Oregon border.

1PM

We crossed the Oregon Border.

2PM
We are in Lakeview, Oregon, looking for Campsite. We bought gas for $2.12/gallon, down from around $2.29 in California.

5PM
Man, it is tough to Camp along Hwy 395! Even parking is hard. We have made Supper Camp in a picnic spot. This would be great for a Nite Camp, if The Team wanted to risk getting a knock on the door late at nite!

We won't decide right now, because George is starviing. The Team made George go out and wash some of the desert dirt off Ms. Tioga, before he could make Supper. Wow!

Below is a pic of this lovely, but illegal, Nite Camp! Should we take a chance? Hmmmm?

10AM
We had a meeting with the real estate broker, and George is listing Uncle Joe's land for sale.

Now we are off to travel East about 27 miles, to Uncle Joe's land, to see what this fabled place really looks like. I've been told that there are miniature donkeys running loose in the area. Wow! Everybody on The Team would like to pet a tiny donkey!

Entering Nevada, the road is dirt!

12 Noon
We are here on Uncle Joe's Land! Wow! It is a very good thing that Mr. DeLorme is here, to show that The Team has arrived on Uncle Joe's Land. Where are the baby donkeys?

Here is a pic looking West.

And here is a pic looking East! Wow! It seems as though it doesn't matter which way you look, Uncle Joe's land has a certain sameness about it!

There is a fence on Uncle Joe's Land. Probably to keep Uncle Joe's cattle from running free!

We could land a 747 on the road thru Uncle Joe's Land!

It is very windy, here on Uncle Joe's Land. Mr. Levelers put Ms. Tioga way up high, in order to get the wind from moving Ms. Tioga around a lot. It is also sort of cold. Very high too! The altitude on Uncle Joe's Land is 5,550 feet!

4PM
Back in California, heading to sign up with the broker in Cedarville.

5PM
Remember we stayed in Cedar Pass Campground last Tuesday, on our way to the town of Cedarville? We are Supper Camped there again, most likely Nite Camped too! George says, "Man, am I starving!" Twice Fried Chicken tonite!

8PM
George built a campfire, the first one that The Team can remember since George met Ms. Tioga! Wow!

6AM
We are breaking camp in order to move to a place where our Mr. Sunny will be able to see the Sun and give us the power that we need to run Mr. Chips. Wow! It is so GREAT to be excited about all of this blog stuff!

Later this morning, we will head East toward the town of Cedarville, California. George wants to talk to a real estate broker in Cedarville about Uncle Joe's land, to find out if there is some way to earn $money$ from this land. We do not believe that there is a way, because it is on open range.

Do you want to see Uncle Joe's Land yourself? We will be there in a few days! Wow!

7:30AM
We have arrived in Cedarville, and are parked on Main Street across from the real estate office. Cedarville is a quiet town. We like the way it looks, sort of an old fashioned kind of town. George says, "Cedarville is the kind of place where people say hello to me!"

2PM
The Team is camped out in the middle of a desert, east of Middle Alkali Lake. The wind comes across the desert, and shakes Ms. Tioga.

"Help, Everybody! This is Ms. Tioga talking at you. That George must be crazy to Camp in this dreadful place! There are snakes out here. I just know it!"

7PM
George made a bunch of enchiladas tonite, and here they are ready to be devoured!

Hi Everybody!

This is Ms. Tioga thanking all of the readers who wrote to George asking that he protect me from the desert wind and especially all of those snakes! We are in Cedarville town now, parked on Main Street where it is safe!

11AM
We are breaking Camp and heading Northeast on Hwy 299 to Alturas, about 32 miles away.

Did we ever tell you about Uncle Joe's Desert Land? George's Uncle Joe bought some desert land in Northwest Nevada in the late 1950s. When Uncle Joe died in 1991, George was left with this land. We want to see what this land looks like, and since we are getting pretty close, we thought that we would show you where this desert land is located, OK?

1PM
The Team has arrived in the town of Alturas. George went shopping in the Four Corners Market.

We have to do some planning on our Northern route thru Eastern Oregon. Last nite, at a Team Meeting, Mr. Dometic suggested that Western Idaho would be better, because it is cooler there. Hmmmm?

4PM
Another Team Meeting about Trip Planning just ended. Mr. Dometic convinced everybody that going up Hwy 95 on the Western side of Idaho, would be best. And so, that is where we will head. Wow!

Now we are going to look about for a Nite Camp!

5PM
We tried for a Nite Camp along the Pit River, East of Alturas and found the access road on private property.

The Team then headed East on Hwy 299, and just after we re-entered the Modoc National Forest found a NFS Campground named "Cedar Pass", with No-Fee for camping! Wow!

Below is a pic of George thanking the Heavens for this wonderful find, while Mr. DataStorm goes about his business of getting "On-Satellite."

And here is Thoms Creek, flowing very nicely! BTW, we are alone in this NFS Campground! There is not one other camper here!

10AM
In the pic below, George looks at ducks across the pond with binoculars. We have to be SOOOOO careful not to alert these birdies! A moment after Mr. Mavica took this pic, the two ducks took off in fright!

Yesterday evening, Mr. Mavica and George tried to sneak up on two beautiful geese at the water's edge, in order to get a better pic of these two large birdies. When George setup Mr. Tripod, the birdies heard it, and took off flying across the pond! Wow!

11AM
George had his favorite Sunday breakfast; pancakes, pan poachy eggs, sausage, ham and a bowl of fruit salad! Wow!

Mr. Mavica and George just left to take a walk to the other side of the pond, to see what could be seen.

When Mr. Mavica and George returned, they told of finding that the pond was probably much larger during the Winter. This pond likely was made much larger years ago, when this place may have been a ranch on private land.

The pic below shows George looking across the pond at Ms. Tioga, who waits patiently.

12 Noon
We are breaking McClelland Pond Camp, and heading North toward the Alturas area. We probably will make Nite Camp somewhere South of Alturas.

3PM
A friend of Ms. Tioga is Ms. Intrigue. Ms. Tioga would like Ms. Intrigue to know that The Team travelled an entire 24 miles this afternoon in order to make Camp. Wow! Our Camp is 1/4 mile West and above Hwy 139 North of Adin.

BTW, if you ever find yourself in the Town of Adin, George says, "You gotta stop at Nelson's Frosty!" Nelson's was packed with customers when The Team stopped across the street, and the fragrance of broiled burgers was fantastic! George only bought a medium frosty cone for $1.13, but was sorely tempted to get one of those 1/3 pound charbroiled burgers!

5PM
George went exploring, and Mr. Mavica caught George looking back at Ms. Tioga in this pic below. Our Camp is near the top of a rise on the mountain.

Near our Camp, George found this excavation. There was an old broken cable on the ground. Do any of you know what this excavation could be? Perhaps a mine? Is gold found in red soil such as this in the pic below?

11AM
George and Ms. Tioga and The Team at McClelland Camp! Wow! We can see a long way out across the valley from our place in the Modoc National Forest!

1PM
We had a Team Meeting, and decided to move up the mountain! Ms. Tioga was complaining that she was covered with horse flies, of all things. So up the mountain we went, and made camp in a level spot near the top. There are lots of flowers growing here! Wow!

3PM

Mr. Mavica tried to take a pic of the field of flowers in front of Ms. Tioga, and he could not get the pic! The flowers are too subtle, too small.

A bit further on, there is a small dirt road. It leads down into a green meadow. George hiked near there, and The Team may move again.

4PM

The Team moved, and found much more than a green meadow. More than we could ever have expected! Wow! We are overwhelmed!

Readers have emailed wondering how we find such places, that are not only magnificent and beautiful, but free. Oh Lord! What a blessing is this place! :)

6PM
If we would have come a week early, there would have been no flowers. A week late, the grass would have started to brown. No, this was the perfect time, the exact time. Why are Tioga and George soooo lucky?!

The pond is so very beautiful! In the evening, the frogs sing, and The Team loves their sound.
