Farewell to Boid!
This morning we had arrived at the Beach of Matanchen and MsTioga drove over to invite Penny and Mick to pizza this afternoon. As I went out the driver's door, Little Baby Boid flew on my head. Oh, Lord!

During the year that Boid was my friend, he never once even got close to flying outside. He seemed to understand that outside was not for him. He only flew on my head this morning because he liked to do that. And when I went out of MsTioga, Boid became instantly disoriented.

I may have been able to simply re-enter MsTioga. But I was startled and reached up for Boid. He flew away! Up, up into a nearby palm tree Boid flew. I ran after him calling his name.

Then one of the vicious black birds took after Boid. Around the parking lot Boid flew, the black in pursuit. I had no idea that Little Boid could fly sooooooo fast! Boid flew like crazy, easily outdistancing the black. I saw Boid for the last time winging over the Paraiso Escondido Restaurant and across the highway.

I like to think that Little Boid escaped the black, and found a safe place in the fields across the highway. A place with many seeds for him to eat. And only surrounded by friendly happy birds.
Jorge and Boid on a better day.

BABY BOID IS HOME!
MsTioga had moved down the beach away from our usual Campsite. We did not want to be in the same place where we had been with Boid. Little did we know that we actually were now only a short distance from where Boid was hiding in a tree!

A lady called out, "Are you looking for a budgie?" We got Boid's cage and followed the lady to her RV. We did not really believe that we would actually find Little Boid. When we came to where the lady who found Boid was watching him, she moved me so that I could see him hiding on a tree branch.

And there he was, sitting on this branch inside of a very green tree. I moved Boid's cage near him, and he hopped right inside. Man-O-Man!
Look who is back with MsTioga!

Boid's friends from British Columbia!

About six hours after Boid flew away from MsTioga, RVer Gloria saw him fly from the direction of the highway and land in a tree. While Gloria kept an eye on Boid in the tree, her friend Sharon went over to MsTioga to tell us about Boid.

Gloria & Sharon are staying in the El Chaco RV campground.

5PM to 8PM - Pizza at Casa Mañana.
Several of us piled into MsTioga and headed over to Casa Mañana for pizza. Casa Mañana has a special brick lined pizza oven built into their dining room wall. Everybody agreed that the pizza was soooooo good!

When we returned to the Flyboys Paraiso Escondido Camp, pilots David and Chip had just arrived from a few days of hoped for hang gliding.

Little Boid update.

Boid has almost returned to his happy former self. Boid told me that he wants to write a story for you to read. Can you imagine that? Hmmmmm?

This is going to be the almost absolutely true story of Boid's escape and return after nearly being lunch for the vicious blackbirds! Wow!

Setting up a wireless network!
Our friend Del asked for help setting up his new wireless router. Del wants to earn a little $money$ providing internet access.

We setup the new Linksys router with no problem. However, Del's computer would not connect to the network. We worked and worked on resolving this problem with no success.

Finally, we brought over Ms. Viola [our laptop] to Del's RV in order to see if we could connect to the new router. We connected with NO problem. That was when Del remembered that his USB wireless device was not plugged in to his laptop! Hmmmmmm?

That's why MsTioga and The Team are late in making our blog post today.

5PM - Back to Aticama.
We spent a very nice day visiting with other campers on the Beach of Matanchen. Everybody is soooooo friendly. Just about sundown, MsTioga and The Team headed back to our riverside Camp in Aticama.

When we arrived at our Camp, the dump trucks were in the river hauling stones to nearby Playa Amor where the sea wall is being reinforced. I've talked with many people living in Aticama about removing stones and gravel from the river. Everybody approves. During the summer, heavy rains cause flooding here. Digging out the riverbed means less flooding.

Del and Angel in Mexico.
We introduced you to Del and Angel awhile back [link]. This morning Little Mavicito and I went visiting over at their RV in El Chaco Hotel's RV camping area.

Del and Angel have arranged with the hotel to lease a nice sized area at the back of the RV campground. They are constructing a big palapa [or ramada] in this space. Del and Angel plan to live in their ramada fulltime!

In the pic below, Angel stands inside the new construction. Their Class-A RV will park in the rear section and the front part will be the outside living place. Pretty neat, huh?
Angel showing us her ramada construction.

4PM - Invited for supper!
It truly is a wonderful thing to be invited for supper. Makes us feel great! Because we are
"In demand!"

Angel and Del have invited Little Mavicito and I to their RV for supper. We forgot what is on the menu. However, Little Mavicito is anxious to take some pics for you to see!

Note: Jorge forgot to take Little Mavicito out of his pack, so no pics were taken of our food. We had a wonderful supper with shrimp and vegetables. For dessert, MsTioga contributed chocolate ice cream!

Engine coolant low!
Yesterday while in the City of Tepic, MsTioga's engine coolant level was checked and found to be low. We bought a couple of containers of engine coolant and filled MsTioga's radiator to the proper level.

This morning the engine coolant level was found to be low again! Wow!

We have NOT been able to find any leak in the cooling system. But the engine coolant is going somewhere. MsTioga suspects that the problem is with her radiator cap. This cap may be defective, allowing coolant to escape when the engine is hot. We also suspect the engine thermostat which may not be opening enough.

MsTioga Calendar Archives.
Do you know about our "calendar archives?" We have been wondering if you have used them? In order to find out the answer, a new poll has been placed at the bottom of the left column.

Would you please take this poll?

Readers find MsTioga's leak!

In the ShoutBox today, Readers Reddrum & Rock suggested that our coolant leak might be coming from our recently repaired heater core. Immediately when I read their posts, I knew that they were correct.

I had seen a dark mark on the carpet near the heater, and thought that it was a grease mark. However, when I checked a little while ago, the mark turned out to be a wet spot. In fact, the entire carpet under the heater is wet.

I've disconnected the water lines to the heater and connected them together creating a by-pass.

11AM - Heading back to the coast.
Well, we've bought everything from anti-freeze/coolant for MsTioga's radiator to a ball of rubber bands for the office. Now we are ready to head back to the coast!
Jorge and The Team with some of their shopping stuff.

3PM - Canadian invasion!
When MsTioga and The Team arrived back to our Beach Camp at Matanchen, we were surprised to find that the Flyboy Camp had been invaded by a bunch of Canadians. Friendly lot! Eh!

Invited to Ole & Jan's for supper.
This evening I was invited to Ole's RV for supper. Ole's sister Jan made the salad and Ole prepared the mashed potatoes and beef.

I love talking with Ole, because he has such neat stories to share. Many of Ole's stories are contained in books that he has authored! [link]

Shopping run to Tepic!
Later this morning, MsTioga and The Team are going on a shopping run up the hill to the City of Tepic. Our major shopping item is to fill MsTioga's propane tank. There is no propane filling station to be found in any of the nearby coastal towns.

Bringing things to Mexico.
Some stuff is difficult to bring to Mexico. For example, you know how crazy we on The Team are about Caig DeOxit [link]. Caig is sold in aerosol cans. After the 911 attacks, airline regulations were changed which we understand prevent such aerosols being transported in an airplane. Even as checked luggage.

So, in order to bring our Caig DeOxit into Mexico, we are planning to ship such things by United Parcel Service [UPS]. We've arranged for the Ford dealership in Tepic to receive parcels for us from UPS.

12 Noon - MsTioga's engine won't run!
On the way up the mountain to the City of Tepic, MsTioga's engine quit. It appears to be a fuel problem. Perhaps the fuel filter.

We have another fuel filter on board. A passing motorist promised to send a mechanic to help from the Town of Jalcocotan.

At first MsTioga was stopped right in the middle her traffic lane. Luckily there was a shoulder behind us large enough to get off the roadway. We coasted back and are now in the position that you see in the pic below!
MsTioga and The Team stuck on road to Tepic.

1PM - Fuel filter changed!
MsTioga got stuck at 12 noon. Two mechanics from the motorcycle store in Jalcocotan arrived at 12:30pm. By 1pm, MsTioga and The Team were on their way again.

Only one hour from getting stuck to being on our way again! Isn't that the greatest thing?

When the mechanics showed up, they wanted us to try and start the engine. And guess what? MsTioga's engine started right up!! I asked the mechanic to replace the fuel filter anyway. We have had similar problems before [engine missing as if fuel starved]. At those times I thought the problem was dirty fuel at the bottom of the tank. When I filled up with gasoline back then, the engine ran fine. Of course the problem could also be a bad fuel pump. But I think it to be only the fuel filter.
Mechanics Pablo and Luis.

9PM - Nite Camped in Tepic.
We have made a Nite Camp in our usual neighborhood in the City of Tepic. During the afternoon, MsTioga filled her propane tank. We went shopping at the WalMart for our groceries.

And, we went out for supper at the Happy Chicken [Pollo Feliz].
Does this chicken look happy, or what?

Thrill Of Flight!
Author, flier & ultralight instructor John 'Ole' Olson conceived of a dynamic video showing his ultralight trike aircraft cruising above the Beach of Matanchen. John told Little Mavicito about his idea and Little Mavicito jumped at the chance to produce this action-packed video!

4PM - Family picnic at our Little River Camp.
MsTioga and The Team have returned to our Little River Camp early this afternoon. I badly need a bath!

We found a family having a picnic where MsTioga usually parks. So, we have made our Nite Camp on the other side of the road. This family is here for the day from the City of Tepic.

John and Jan on the beach.
If you have followed my website for awhile, you may have read my "Personal Therapy Page" [link]. And being familiar with me, you may also know that I love to talk about what happened to me after becoming an RVer and my journey of self-discovery!

So, when I met John & Jan on the Beach of Matanchen, I was delighted to learn that John was also "a bit interested" in this subject as well. Perhaps I am an amateur psychiatrist wannabe? Hmmmm?
Jan, John and Jorge on-the-beach.

5PM - Eating supper at Casa Mañana.
The restaurant at the Casa Mañana Hotel has a pizza oven which they only use to prepare pizza on Saturdays. I asked RVing friends Jan and John if they were interested to go out for supper at Casa Mañana. They both thought that this was a good idea!

John and I ordered pizza, which was very good. Jan enjoyed garlic shrimp!
