Heading south2

7AM - Heading south!
The long awaited departure from Dave's home has arrived! In the pic below, all around me, is my departure stuff. A closet size storage space has been rented.  This space is only a mile away from here. We will pick that stuff up when MsTioga and I return to California next springtime.

At 8:30am, a taxi picks me up at Dave's home and takes me to the BART in Concord. From there I go to San Francisco Airport to pickup a Fox Rental Beast. Then I return to Dave's home, transfer the stuff to the storage space, and head south!

I'll be driving the Fox Rental Beast from today thru November 27th. That's the day that I fly back to MsTioga in Mexico. The Beast costs $408 total. $27/day. Is that a good price?

My plan is to drive to Southern California and spend the next couple of weeks visiting with family and friends. Thanksgiving is with Cousin Jacky's end of the family.  You may recall that I toured Israel with Cousin Jacky in 2008.  She's a sweetheart!
George leaving Dave's home

Thursday, September 23rd - The tragedy begins
It was on September 23rd that I received an email from my son Joe telling me that his brother Dave was in trouble.  We did not know then that Dave had died the prior Monday.

Only seven weeks ago.  What a terrible time those seven weeks were to be for me.  The very worst time in my entire life.  Worse than divorce.  Worse than losing my restaurant business.  Worse than cancer.

However, as all things eventually do, the tragedy of my son Dave's suicide has come to a close.  I do not know what is in store for me regarding Dave.  His suicide has changed me forever!  I believe that I am a much more thoughtful and considerate person now.  My perspective of my life has blossomed!  What that means for me, I have yet to learn.  Before Dave's death, I had a 36" waistline.  Now I am wearing size 34 pants!.

6PM - Morgan Hill, California!
We bet that MsTioga is sooooooo jealous of us!  She is camped in León, Guanajuato, Mexico, while Little Mavicita, Mr. HP and Jorge are tootling around California having the time of our lives!

Right next to our hotel is an In-N-Out Burger! Yummmmm! Our favorite burger joint. The hotel has a hot tub! Wow! Just like Dave's home!

If you click on one of the map links below, you may see where we are staying the nite.

How did you go from size 36 to 34?
Several readers emailed wanting info on how my waistline went from 36 to 34?  Actually, it was more like 36-1/2, because my tummy puffed over my belt.  Just today I noticed that my 34 size jeans are loose on my waist.  So I'm continuing to lose inches.

.I really don't know what I'm doing to lose inches.  In a bit I'll be walking over to In-N-Out Burger to get one of their #3 combos with an upgrade from a soda pop to a milkshake!  My plan is to try and figure out what is making me lose inches?!  I'll let you know if I come up with something.
