Well, all of the parts of our Adventure to Guatemala are put together now. Yesterday evening, a walk to the bus station here in Tequisquiapan confirmed when the bus to Mexico City leaves every day. The first bus leaves at 9:30am and arrives about 2.5 hours later at Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City.
The part of The TiogaRV Team traveling to Guatemala is staying for two nites at the Ramada Aeropuerto Mexico Hotel. There is a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel.
So, all that is left to do now to prepare for our trip is to pack up our stuff!
8:30AM - Banda Ancha update
Guess what?! We still have internet access with our Banda Ancha WiFi stick. We learned something yesterday by poking around on Telcel's website. Apparently even though we paid 100 pesos for recharging our Banda Ancha at the Oxxo store, and that payment was acknowledged as received, this is NOT enough. After that payment, we most go online and inform Telcel how we want that payment applied!
I am signed up for "Mi Telcel" [My Telcel], which is a website that gives information particular to my Banda Ancha account. There is a place in the Mi Telcel web pages where I am able to see that 100 pesos credited to what Telcel calls, Saldo Amigo [Balance Friend]. I guess a Telcel user has to be "in-the-know" in order to understand this kind of stuff!
Anyway, by poking around further on this website, I found a place where I could apply my 100 peso payment in order to extend out my Banda Ancha service. After completing the extension of my Banda Ancha service, I took a peek at the Balance Friend page and sure enough, the 100 pesos had been removed!
On that same "Balance Friend" page is another amount that Telcel calls, "Saldo Regalo" [Balance Gift] which has a balance of 378 pesos. I have no clue how to use this "Balance Gift" amount to pay for Banda Ancha service. I guess that routine is hidden somewhere on this website!
Bottom Line: The bottom line is that we still have internet access. However, we do not know how much time that internet access will continue. We will be in a hotel at Mexico City this coming Monday, and that hotel will have internet. So, if Banda Ancha works until Monday morning, we will be doing just fine!
2PM - Traffic zooms!
Something very odd happened during the 2 to 3 o'clock hours today. Tioga-George traffic zoomed to over 4,500 page views! This is very unusual because we usually have 500 views in an hour.
The huge surge in traffic has something to do with a pic in our story about Slab City [link]. We are able to see the volume surging by looking at the stats in our Sitemeter counter report.
Sure would like to know what is going on!
