Tioga & George travel the roads of the west searching for adventure
Yet you chose to live in a country that can lock you up and throw away the key at will. Strange!
I keep looking for your posts George, but am wondering why? I followed for years but my, how you've changed. I now will be removing you from my favorite list, how sad. Take care.
I've followed you since you had a desktop in MsTioga. It has been years of great fun. But since David died, I believe you have been in total denial as to why he really killed himself and it is now making you crazy. Take care George. Find peace. I am also gone.
I'm still hanging around. It's been a little lonely here recently, but I will wait.
I thought you developed a blog to describe your travels and the rv life. You sure do not owe your readers anything what-so-ever. But why don't you just move on or quit the on again - off again? Just what is your real goal? First we had the quack from Florida on which you were going to base your life going forward - then it was I quit blogging - then it was Tioga George Blog #2 and now you are blogging on this site again.Everyone has problems, some much much more serious than your own. You certainly know how to flee from some of yours - perhaps you should trying helping others rather than wallow in self-pity as it seems you have been doing for some time. I have known several families and friends who had to deal with suicides. They moved on despite the mental wounds they suffered, as there is no other alternative. Your negative outlook on life may be influencing others to their detriment. Such a positive? legacy you will leave when you pass from this life.I will continue to follow your posts, for the express purpose of assuring myself when I feel dysfunctional there others that give it new meaning.
I published this post because I believe that it is important to write about the assault on liberty in America.Yes, I used to write about my traveling adventures. But now liberty concerns me more.George
So go back to America. Do not pontificate from abroad. I believe you have alienated your previous readers. George, basically you have screwed up. Adios.
Interesting that the above commenters wanted you to know they don't like you any longer. If I stop liking someone, I just go the hey away unless they're in my face then that's another ballgame. But internet people can go and come as they please.I'd like to understand why you all wanted George to know how little you think of him these days. What's in it for you? Are you helping George or the Universe or your self righteous judgmental selves? The others in the recent past who wanted to hate. I really missed your posts because of such hateful readers. To me, you are an interesting soul and as I've written, a huge inspiration to me as a lot of other people. I like you. I like that you want to get the hurt out. To be honest. You ain't no phony. People can read or not read… Again, I don't get the hate. The bashing. Why bash someone period... much less someone who is on a life journey and who has suffered a tremendous loss but kept going. I don't know what I would have done if my son committed suicide… I can't bear to even write that. Instead of support lately …. it's just bashing. why?How do people justify their judgmental hate? gotta be church goers... that's a judgmental call but an educated judgmental call.I think you ought to write about whatever steams yer bean. Glad at least 3 outta 5 are gone ... the other two just, I guess want to hang around to see what you do next and the one directly above wants to use you as a ruler for his dysfunctions... hahaa oh, me... life and its subsidiaries..me? I'm totally interested in how you're coping and keeping it together while enjoying whatever you enjoy.... At our age? who cares what people think ... seriously. Glad to see ya, George... hang tight ;)
You said this well.. what do they get out of it
Typical George apologist.
I am glad that are well and blogging again George. Your concern about liberty in America is commendable.
Thank you George!
There is still plenty of Liberty in the USA. Just cost more than it use to! So, George what are you doing to correct the situation from Mexico? Writing about it is like just saying there is a Fire outside your house and expecting others to stop it. Problem is no one is around.rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
Hi George,For those who do not follow your link, it is to a 2003 article "Upholding Liberty in America" by two gentlemen from the CATO Institute. Here is the description of the CATO Institute from their website:"The Cato Institute is a public policy research organization — a think tank – dedicated to the principles of individual liberty, limited government, free markets and peace. Its scholars and analysts conduct independent, nonpartisan research on a wide range of policy issues.Founded in 1977, Cato owes its name to Cato’s Letters, a series of essays published in 18th- century England that presented a vision of society free from excessive government power. Those essays inspired the architects of the American Revolution. And the simple, timeless principles of that revolution — individual liberty, limited government, and free markets – turn out to be even more powerful in today’s world of global markets and unprecedented access to information than Jefferson or Madison could have imagined. Social and economic freedom is not just the best policy for a free people, it is the indispensable framework for the future.".Interested readers can go directly to their website for articles written more recently. The article you linked to is interesting because the "fear" from the authors was a fear of neoconservatives. While they mention at the end of their 4th paragraph "liberals" as well, their main concern was the neoconservatives. It would be interesting to get their reaction to the vastly increased intrusions into our liberty, as revealed in part by Mr. Snowden, now in Russia.
Hi again George,Well, let us open more doors re Liberty. They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin
Hi George, Good to see your post re Liberty. The topic of Liberty is probably the most important topic anyone could choose to discuss at this point in our country. Hopefully you will attract a group of readers who wish to comment on it.You know I am in Michigan. Actually, I am outside the now official bankrupt city of Detroit. My mother's family has been in Detroit since the very beginning. There is a street and other landmarks named in the honor of these forebears. The people of Detroit are now in a prison of their own creation. There have been liberal Democrat mayors and council members since 1962. The population dropped from almost 2 million to less than 700,000.Scavengers steal manhole covers from the streets. They steal any copper that they can steal, including downspouts from churches and parts from roof air conditioners. A few get electrocuted stealing wire from street lights. Fewer than 40% of the street lights work. Police response time is close to one hour per call. The residents are not even free really to leave their homes at night, lest they are killed by gun fire. They have lost their liberty.Debt in our country will eventually do the same for most Americans. We will use the reality of our liberty by being in debt to the Chinese and whomever else. The oddity of this, somewhat perverse, is that we will, like Detroit, then default on our debts. Detroit retirees are now anticipating getting about 10 cents on the dollar (per local news reports). We are all awaiting the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. We will all lose some liberty in choosing our health care providers.By investigating the meaning of liberty you are entering into a great new adventure. I look forward to your journey.
As you know from the forums, I am also greatly concerned with liberty. I would not use a definition from the Cato Institute for my quote. I define liberty as freedom to choose. For example: I do not personally believe in zoning laws. Businesses in basements and chickens in the back yard are fine with me. I also believe in limited government. I want Medicare (available for all), Social Security, and the Post Office (and a new extension called Internet). I want government to either run those services or have strong oversight of them. I prefer public trash disposal over garbage everywhere. I see health issues if we did not have public sewage systems and public water. I like free highways (but we don't need so many). I don't blame Democrats or Republicans. I do worry about our American system because of our lack of compromise. Compromise formed our Republic and it is going away as the strong upholder of our liberties. I might not like zoning but my neighbor does. Compromise makes it OK for the majority or it isn't a good compromise and will fail. Saying someone is wrong or nuts instead of saying MY OPINION is different because of these facts is how compromise works. The Cato Institute and our other left and right think-tanks do not believe in compromise but instead in word and fact twisting to try to appeal to a certain group and by extension--funding. Pittsburgh has also had a Democratic leader since way before 1962. It has survived the closing of the steel mills and is still quite a nice town. To say its success is because of Democrats would not be any more accurate. What do you think about Snowden and liberty?
I couldn't live in "your" city. Democrats and Republicans are definitely to blame?? Apathy?? Mindset??
Pittsburgh is a great town have you been there lately? I blame "we the people" for our apathy and our mindsets. It doesn't matter the party. If a elected official is able to compromise (truly) then our great system will survive. If we don't relearn the art of compromising, I do fear for our Republic. I have rubbed elbows with those who would tear our system down. They are scary.
Just give me one more Ronald Reagan before I died. What we have had since are spineless leaders with focus only on their own personal political gain. Look where it has taken us. Less government equals more freedom.Concentrated power has always been the enemy of liberty.Ronald ReaganRead more at http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/r/ronald_reagan.html
I disagree. President Reagan did not control Federal employment growth. He talked the talk but didn't walk the walk. Here are some charts. Lots of sites that state the facts but I think charts are easier to read. http://econographia.com/post/28574188424/growth-in-government-public-sector-job-expansion
Both parties have been bought and paid for a long time ago. Wake up! good cop, bad cop is so 1970.
Good news for those who value liberty ! According to Ria Novosti, Edward Snowden has received the authorization to leave the Moscow airport and with a one year temporary asylum in Russia.
I just hope that he won't be mysteriously shot dead by an unknown source. Bradley Manning leaked video to the world indicates that Dick Cheney's former Halliburton commandos in Iraq can do anything unpunished.
aw hell people. Keep on arguing about which vermin is responsible for doing what to who. Keep on sucking up the mind game fodder fed to you on the idiot screen and cowering in your fears of the NSA, IRS, ATF, FBI, DEA, CIA.. and all the other alphabet soup coalitions of treasonous federal parasites. The simple fact is, True Freedom, and the Liberty that exists in it ONLY exists in a society of people who will speak softly and with respect, but have a rigid line of Honor they will not cross or be pushed across. Not if it means their very lives. The vast majority of Americans are devoid of that Principled Honor. They talk a good story, but when the beast comes calling they turn and run crying; "Momma! Momma! Momma!"Unless and until enough people come to value their Liberty more than their government dole and complacent living, Liberty and Freedom in the Great Experiment that was this Nation will continue its decline into oblivion.
Very eloquently said, sir.
Thanks for your return to blogging George! As far as the people leaving and writing nasty exit notes, Please do not allow them to bum you out, Please. I'll bet that they will still continue to read your blog in the hopes that you will give them something to complain about next. You have your opinions and I for one hope that you will continue to post photos of what you eat, where you go, what you do and how you feel about anything and everything. To me your doing that IS what Liberty is about also. Yes I also am unhappy about the current conditions in the USA but I am Happy that you are so kind to share your adventures with us.. The people who wish you the best in health and well being. I just wish those people who are leaving your blog would just do so without all the hate they spew.
any mouse... "In a country that can lock you up and throw away the key" ... hmmm.... do you not READ? Have you NOT heard of the American Citizens, taken off the street and secured in the cuban prison FOR YEARS? No trial, no indictment... just taken? or the teenage boy, an american citizen, blown to bits in Africa by American Military Assets, at the command of the highest of American Authority? Pretend that it isn't happening around you right here... ridicule those of us who try to make you aware... ha ha ha ha... You people amaze me with your enforced and willful ignorance. To this old soldier...it's freaking comical.
If you want to see something comical, look in the mirror!
http://rt.com/news/georgia-south-ossetia-medvedev-interview-012/Here's a point of view from the other side. It may look like propaganda, but it's as real as CNN
When govt gets to be bigger than 25% of the economy, watch out. They will not capitulate without causing great misery on the people that do not occupy their ranks. In the world biggest economy, they will cause it's demise by becoming so onerous upon the common man that no one will want to remain a part of the productive class. Atlas will indeed shrug.
During the first 6 months of 2013, an unpresented 1810 expatriates american citizens turned over their passports at US embassies in order to stop paying taxes to the IRS.
Like many others I have met George (in Mexico) and he is one great guy. Juts because you may not agree with his politics is no reason to start trashing him. George has a perspective on life that few of us have. You can probably be assured he will start blogging about his travels once he is on the move again.
