Visiting MsTioga

Accident destroyed MsTioga
I got released from the hospital on March 26th. Then, I took up residence in a Bakersfield hotel during my recovery period.

The day after, I used a taxi to take me to the place where MsTioga was towed to after the March 15th accident. It is hard for me to describe to you the destruction that MsTioga suffered as a result of that accident. From the outside, MsTioga looks messed up, but more or less the same as before. However, from the inside....Man-O-Man!

Not one wall-hung cabinet remains attached to its wall! The contents of those cabinets is scattered all over the interior. Most stuff is now on the floor. A scrambled heap of stuff, all tangled in electric wires and construction materials.

In one instant on March 15th, MsTioga turned into Humpty-Dumpty. Never to be put back together again.

There was nothing to do but retrieve what could be found, and leave. MsTioga had died in that accident. We had been together from February 25, 2003 to March 15, 2014. Eleven years! And what glorious years they were!

Open heart surgery

What's wrong with my heart?
On Tuesday, March 18th, I went in for open heart surgery. My cardiac surgeon used angiogram technology in order to look at my heart from the inside.

From this angiogram, it was found that I had one blocked artery to my heart. Also, my heart's aortic valve was badly formed. This valve had a great deal of calcification and stenois, a disease that causes a narrowing of the aortic valve opening.

I would have my chest opened up in order to replace my aortic valve with a fabricated one of cow tissue. The blocked artery would be replaced as well.

Accident

MsTioga runs off the Interstate
On Saturday, March 15th, close to noon, MsTioga and I were driving on Interstate #5, a bit south of Bakersfield, California. Suddenly we were in a field to the right of the Interstate. I had no clue how I had arrived stopped in that field!

I saw a man running up the shoulder of the Interstate. He climbed over the field's fence and came to my aid where I was sitting in MsTioga's driver's seat. To his questions, I told him that I was OK, just a bit dizzy. "What happened to me?", I asked.

The man told me that he had been following me. Suddenly, MsTioga began fishtailing, then headed off the Interstate to the field where she was now sitting.

Ambulance to the hospital
Soon an ambulance arrived, and put me into a gurney. Then carried me across the field to the Interstate and put me into the ambulance. We drove to the Emergency Room of San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield.

Soon it was discovered that I had an irregular heart beat. While the top half of my heart beat at about 60 beats/minute, the bottom chamber beat in the 30 beats/minute range. The doctor told me that the irregular heart beat likely caused me to pass out.
