BBQ-Breaking In

4pm [08/04] - I'm at MacArthur Park, in the City of La Mesa [link]. This is a very small park with one table and a kid's playground.

I've set-up the BBQ on that one table. The BBQ grill has to be broken-in before I invite John and Mimi for supper. This is a really cheaply priced BBQ, and I am beginning to have doubts how it will workout for actual grilling.

Guess what happened? The breeze put out the BBQ's flame at my first attempt. And I had to start the gas fire again. This flame-out happened twice more, before I called it quits.

NOTE:
The Weber brand grills are recommended to me in a comment by Reader George whose handle is [Our Awesome Travels]. The Weber really gets good reviews. I am seriously thinking about getting one. [link].

First time using Char-Broil BBQ

Poor results!
So far, the Char-Broil BBQ has performed terribly! I started the gas three times and the gas fire blew out three times. AND, the temperature never got very hot either before the BBQ's flame shut down. Not very good!

This Char-Broil-BBQ is headed back to Wal*Mart! If you would like to view the BBQ's website, click [here].

5pm [08/04] - Mario's de la Mesa
While I was taking down the Char-Broil BBQ, I was struck with a bit of low-blood sugar! I've always been susceptible to low blood sugar when I don't eat a balanced breakfast meal.

This  morning I left for my appointment with Dr. Daniel, and I did not eat anything! For me, that kind of thing is just asking for trouble.

MacArthur Park is just a short distance away from Mario's de la Mesa Mexican Restaurant. So, I went quickly to this restaurant before I ran out of energy.

12 Noon [08/05] - Back at the apartment
I've just returned from a trip to Kaiser/Zion. There is a blood order for me in the lab there issued by my neurologist, Dr. Gretchen.

I understand that these blood tests are rarely used. But being that I am a special guy, Dr. Gretchen is using them on me!  😍

After the blood test, I went to a Wal*Mart to return the Char-Broil grill whose flame would not stay lit.

Pain in right hip joint
I used to feel that I am a special person, because I had no aches or pains like most of the tenants of Guava Gardens have.

It turns out that I am not special anymore! Dr. Daniel diagnosed the occasional pain in my right hip joint as arthritis.

Son-of-a-gun! 😢

  3. Lots of places are having "summer clearance" sales on lawn and patio equipment. I got the Weber 1200 grill for 1/2 price. Check your local K-Mart, Target, and Wal*Mart stores...

    1. Hi Mary,
      Welcome back!😍

Doing blogging is very good for me. To do my Blog, I have to think over what is going on with myself. Then select what is important to post. This process gives me perspective. A very good thing.

  5. Hi, George. Your blogging is very good for me, too, Guess what? This morning I was going through a stack of papers (trying to delete excess junk). I found many "keepers" that I have printed from the internet over the years. I came across one that I printed 2/12/2004. Your essay "what I Learned in Cancer School". Do you remember that? Well, reading it now, 12 years later, the message is highly relevant. I laughed at that word "perspective" in there. The word I always associate with you. I so much agree with the point of that essay; have decided to let nature take its course re what happens to me!!

I think you are going to be happy with your new grill. I have seen nothing but praise for Weber grills. Have a great day.
