No hummers?

8am - I am sitting out on the balcony. I have not seen even one hummingbird come to the feeder this morning. Figuring that the ant spray that I used yesterday might be the problem, I took the feeder inside and washed it out completely. Then filled it with a fresh batch of sweet nectar.

When I returned the feeder to the balcony, I hung it from the hook on the right side, instead of the left side. This to give it a hanging place away from yesterday's ant attack.

So far, I saw one hummer fly over, take a look at the feeder, and then fly away.

Here is a pic of the feeder looking from my sitting place on the cot:

My health
What can I tell you about my health condition? One thing for sure. My health condition is changing. Almost every day it's different.

Yesterday afternoon, for example, I went to my local Wal*Mart to do grocery shopping. Up until now, I have done almost all of my grocery shopping at Von's. But I wandered thru the Wal*Mart grocery area a while back, and was surprised at how much stuff was there. Pretty much everything I need.

Anyway, when I arrived at Wal*Mart and went to get out of my Honda, my legs went cripple on me. I went hobbling from the parking area. What the hell?!?

A couple of times inside Wal*Mart, my right hip joint seemed to "let go". I almost fell! So from then on into my grocery shopping, I kept my right knee locked. This to minimize pressure on my hip joint.

What's going on?
If there is a relationship between my Ataxia and this "hip joint letting go" thing, I don't see it. Maybe I am just physically falling to pieces? Hmmmm?

But otherwise, I feel sooooo good! 😀

I cannot make any sense of it. And my doctors can't make any sense of it either. I may be a special kind of "Human Anomaly!"

Is this guy sick?

Chin's Chinese
12 Noon - I am eating lunch at Chin's Chinese Restaurant. It is my second time eating lunch here.

Chin's is obviously a Class A table service restaurant. It has been in this location for many years. But something happened. The restaurant is searching for customers. And has resorted to sign advertisements at street side. Offering lunch and dinner special prices.

My lunch special is priced at $5! There is a different lunch special every day. Today it is "Pineapple Fish".

Pineapple Fish. Only $5 today at Chin's

  1. I know you probably don't really want to, but perhaps you should take one of Walmart's motorized carts to do your shopping. You wouldn't want to fall and break a hip or something bad. Sure hope you find out soon what is causing all this weirdness.

    1. Hi Ruth,
I've heard it said that, "Once a person uses a Wal*Mart motorized cart, it is a slippery slope all the way to the bottom." 😉

  2. Or get a cane. I only need it when I get out of my chair and the first few steps (bum knees). A pain to carry around but it beats falling.

Do you think the hummingbirds smell a residual insect spray ordor on the feeder?

    1. Oh God, Judy!
      A cane?

I do not feel that I am ready for cane life. Am I just stubborn? In denial? What?

All of these physical things happened to me so fast! I have not been able to accept all of this stuff is just "old age" settling in.

That's why I am fighting to know a reason. I will not be accepting the label of "Ataxia". What good is being fitted with a label? So I can fit in some medical category down at Kaiser? Not for me!

    2. Pride goeth before a fall George. I have always told you what I thought. You have obviously had a medical "event"..If you aren't proactive in seeking answers..you will end up in the hospital...A cane or a "cart" is a good thing for anyone that needs help..at any age..I would rather use either of them than fall and be able to do nothing.(I speak from experience). And I sure wouldn't want you driving a car near me! What if your body won't work properly then? You're just a man George.."Suck it up buttercup"...you are old...deal with it! Now...I really care about you Goeoge...but sometimes everyone needs a "kick in the pants" ha..ha..praying for you...barb

    1. Hi Suz,
Lemon juice instead of water. Hmmmm?

I will give that some thought and some research.

  4. George, I know how you feel. I just turned 81 and although I still went skiing last year I'm not sure I will this year even though I bought a season pass. I'm starting to feel (tiny so far) subtle changes in my balance. Hard to describe but I'm pretty sure it's not going away. I'll avoid canes and scooters until I'm physically propped up on them. Hang in there! This ain't for sissies!

    1. Gee Bill,
Your comment is not happy news for me. I was hoping for a cure. But if you have it too, maybe it's permanent for me?

    2. George, like you I feel really good. I walk 2-3 miles every morning, still maintain the yard and except for my kidney problems everything is fine. Except that On my walks I am slower, find myself dragging a foot now and then and just occassionaly veering from side to side. These are small changes, but I'm pretty sure it's not some disease, unless you want to call normal aging a disease!

  5. George, I'm happy you enjoyed your lunch! I'm also happy you didn't fall due to your physical problems! Please know I pray for you. Blessings, Lynn
