What I hate

6am - Do you know what I hate about this health crap that is attacking me? It's the unpredictability of nearly every thing I do!
  • I reach for something, and it goes flying across the room. A fork, a vitamin pill, a pencil. Everything goes flying around.
  • I'm eating soup. I fill the spoon and move the spoon to my mouth, and the damn soup goes back from the spoon into the bowl.
  • I'm walking out on the balcony, trying my best to watch where my feet go, and my foot strikes a brick that's up there for the flower pots to sit on. The flower pot goes flying and breaks.
  • I go to sit down on my bed, and I roll backward across the bed. My head hits the wall next to the bed.
  • I stand up from a chair, and suddenly I am sitting down again. Sort of out of control sitting down. I've gone backward when this happens, the chair tipping over backward, with me in the chair.
There's more, but why go on with this complaining list?

My Uncle Seymour, 10 years older than me, is in better shape than I am. He never complains to me about his health stuff. Why do I piss and moan about this crud to him? Uncle Seymour is the smart one in the family. Maybe that's the reason. That makes me the dumb one, doesn't it?

Why is this out of control dude smiling?

6pm - Pre-Colonoscopy errands
I've just returned from going on an a Colonoscopy errand run. Got 3-gallons filtered water from a 20-cent/gallon dispenser. Picked up some movie videos at the library [Sicario is one of the movies!]. Got Colon Lavage prescription at the Kaiser Pharmacy. And some other stuff too.

This Colon Lavage stuff is to clean out the large intestine. It does this task by going down to the large intestine, causing me to go to the toilet until only clear liquids are coming out, instead of the normal brown stool,

Sounds like a real good time. A treat! 😡

10pm - Yuck!
That Colon Lavage is terrible stuff. About an hour after I began drinking it, I was not sure if I should be sitting on the toilet, or kneeling down with my face in the bowl. I was hoping that I would NOT have to do both at the same time!

Tomorrow morning, Mimi [John's wife] [John was my golfing partner] is driving me to get the  Colonoscopy. I need a driver to check in with me. Kaiser will not do the procedure if I arrive without a driver. I will be sedated. Cannot drive that day.

  3. Hi, George. I hear what you are saying, Frustrating, this strange world we are living in. However. I have laughed until I am crying about this post. Everything is "flying"! Sounds like you are in one of those space capsules with no gravity.

Maybe it just seems really funny to me because I didn't get much sleep last night. Thanks for the picture. I added it to my screen shots. Just try not to get hurt when you are tumbling around! You are valuable.

  5. George...Did you think you'd be young forever? On the positive side...You can still use your hands...you can still feed yourself...you can still walk...and you can learn different ways to balance yourself to sit and stand. Oh and you can still see...read..think..right? You still have friends and get out to play and eat..right? You are blessed to be able to do and have all of those things. Stop your negative thinking...Just learn to see the humor in life. It's more fun that way. Still praying for you. Barb

    1. Hi Barb,

Your 1st question: "Yes, I did."

All those things that you listed after "On the positive side..."

Do I have any alternatives? I can only approach this part of life with doing the best that I can do.

But it still pisses me off when I pick up something that I just dropped. I pick it up. It drops again. I pick it up again. And it drops again!!

You know what happens then? I look up and shout: "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?"

I never get an answer, Barb.

    2. George..looking for "someone" to blame is not the answer..but we all do it. God didn't do anything to you. Maybe he gave you a challenge..Will you be up to it?. Being angry doesn't fix anything. I made many mistakes in my life and am sorry for them...I am also grateful that I can see that now. Vent to a friend or your Rabbi..you are not alone in your struggles..Everyone who follows you has the same ..that's why they love you. (and the best you can do is all anyone can be asked for).

    3. Hi Barb,

Where you wrote: "looking for "someone" to blame", you mean God?

Yes, when I look up and shout: "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?", I suppose that I am shouting at God. However, I really don't believe that God, who created heaven and the Universe, takes the time to vex a creature like me. Has to be an Angel or something.

  6. George, just forget the colonoscopy. It will not do anything to contribute to helping your condition. From what I gather, you are near the age of 80. At that age, you are getting diminishing returns from this screening. Please don't do it.

    1. Hi David,

I am going to this ONE Colonoscopy. Just this one time.

There is really no reason for me to do this procedure. Because, as you most certainly understand, if I have cancer down there, I am not going to do chemo or something.

If I do NOT have cancer down there, no reason for a Colonoscopy.

I appreciate your sharing with me, your experience and wisdom.

    1. Hi David,

I agree with your point of view. When I got diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer in 2001, I did chemo and beat the cancer.

But the chemo took a heavy toll of me. I suffered for five years with the after effects of chemo.

I will be 79 in November. I will not be doing chemo now at my age.

  9. Mister G it's probably from eating all those pistachio nuts
    No only kidding
I would think you need to take a closer look at your medication
For instance if you take all your medication in let's say 9 am
How Do you feel between seven and nine do you still have the same symptoms

After you take your meds at 9:00 AM If you wait a half an hour after that how do you feel them
Have you changed a med in the Last 3 to 5 months
If you've had that Problem for many years it's one thing but if you've developed it recently ,,, yes we get older and so does in our bodies and their reaction to the medication. I know you're happy with your doctor but with the medication I would check with an older pharmacist about Your symptoms ( whenever you pick up your meds at ) he may give you some insight

    1. Hi Mister Ed,

Well, you have a good point there. I stopped taking ALL my medication and vitamins last Friday. Preparation for tomorrow's colonoscopy.

Today, some of my symptoms are greatly reduced.

It will be interesting to learn what happens when I begin the meds again after this procedure.

  10. Good luck, George. It will soon be over.
Your pharmacist is your best friend. They know the drugs better than most Drs. M.D.s get very little pharmacology in med school. All they know is what the drug companies tell them :>

    1. Hi Suz,

I am highly appreciative of your comment.

When you read my Aug 17th Blog post, you will find that I've written to all three of my doctors.

I am copying the letter that I sent to all of the three, and posted it here for my Readers.

Your comment gives me a direction to aim my search to know which drug(s) may be responsible for my recent health decline.

      Thank you! ♥️
