Fulltiming

Fulltiming Is Wonderful!

7:30am - Baby Boid and George and Little Honda and everybody agree about Fulltiming. It is wonderful!!

Our Nite Camp went sooooo well. Everything worked. Nothing was missing. Our many Scampy Shake-Down Camps in order to find out what didn’t work or was missing did the trick!

The temperature really got cold at Nite Camp. We don’t know what that temp was because our internet connection thru iPhone’s Hot Spot was “No Service”. All nite long, “No Service!”

We made this Blog post when we found a 2-star Cricket service location We are still on the mountain looking down on the City of San Bernardino.

George’s for breakfast
8am - We arrived in San Bernardino and filled Little Honda’s gas tank. We planned on going to Denny’s for breakfast. But, just across the street from the gas station we spotted “George’s Burgers [Breakfast Lunch Dinner]. So we went to George’s.

We brought Baby Boid to breakfast. The lady at the counter at George’s, told us that bringing Boid would be OK!

Boid liked being at George’s Burgers. He tweeted a lot, and looked around at all the customers.

9am - Thanksgiving Invitation
We are invited to share Thanksgiving this afternoon with friends, John and Mimi. We are heading there now.

However, before we leave San Bernardino, we will make a visit to the nearby original site of the:

First McDonald's Hamburger Restaurant!
.

4pm - Thanksgiving Celebration
Delicious turkey, stuffing, string beans, sweet potato! And dressing!

I've celebrated Thanksgiving with John and Mimi almost every year since I began fulltiming in 2003. I feel very fortunate to be here with them celebrating Thanksgiving this year.

Note: I had planned to take pics of us at the table. But I forgot to take pics! Darn!

7pm - Why sometimes things go wrong
Have you noticed, at times I rant about stuff being missing? And I blame missing stuff on playful ghosts or bad angels? I even sometimes blame God?

I am seriously doubting the validity of this blaming. Now I've come to believe that it is actually Me Myself who is responsible.

The reason for things going missing is I’m not paying attention.

“Paying Attention” does not accurately describe what goes on. Maybe, it’s part of the aging process? As I’ve aged, I believe that I'v became mentally sloppy. Not paying enough attention to recall what I am doing. To recall what I’ve done.

Example:

I have something in my hand. I put it down without concentrating enough. And that something is gone! Not actually gone. But I have no idea where it is. Because where it is not in my memory.

What I have to do
I believe that I can stop this mental sloppiness, and become mentally disciplined again. As I was when I was younger. This likely will not be an easy thing for me to do. But if I have the right attitude, I believe that I am able to do it!

The reward will be a lot of frustration removed from my life.

    1. Hi Ruth,

I was surprised that Boid was allowed. And Boid himself loved being in that restaurant with me. He is such a love.

  3. Happy Thanksgiving.
And breakfast at George's just has to be excellent.
My Restaurant was called Jessie's Diner after my daughter and packed people in there everyday for years.

  5. Hi, George. What a wonder it would be if you discover that you are able to take care of that forgetting by paying attention. Both my husband and I have the same problem. Very frustrating that we don't have a memory of where we put things. The other day I wasted several minutes looking for my glasses!! I ALMOST asked my husband to please come help look. Then I had an idea, and, sure enough. For some reason I had taken them off in another part of the house before I went to the bathroom to take a shower. When I got out of the shower, my glasses were not where they were supposed to be!

The best thing I do to help avoid frustration is try to keep habits. I always park in the same areas at stores, otherwise I would lose my car regularly. USUALLY my glasses are in the same place. I did not follow the habit rule. Please keep us informed as to how well your solution works!

I am glad to see you happy. Talking to us often. Keep it up!

    1. Hi Rose,

As I wrote in my Blog post above, my belief is that by conditioning myself to always be aware of what I do, I'll not lose things.

I understand that this may appear to be too simple to work. But that is what I am trying, and so far, it's working.

  6. Almost everyone getting older is having the same problem. You can't will or discipline yourself to remember.
I have 99% solved the problem by putting EVERYTHING in its place. My Updated has a stand. If I get up to do something it goes in the stand. This goes for keys, remotes, cameras, tools etc. I even have a toolkit inside and outside the RV.
When I am planning to go somewhere I make a checklist of what I'm taking with me.
You'll find what works for you, but meanwhile don't beat yourself up for something you can't help.

I agree about solving the "losing things" problem by putting things in their place.

  8. Hi George. You mentioned that your heater is warming scampi nicely. Did you get copper line issue resolved? Also ... you mention full timing is great. Forgive my ignorance... but I thought full timing was kunda moving around. I know your trailer is connected to services and that you use scampy to go out for a night or two. Forgive me for. Ot knowing... but what is a fulltimer. I've never camped. I only read your blog for information. Thank you.

    1. There are many definitions of full-timing and none are incorrect. George is living in a 5th wheel, that makes him a full-timer.
I'm also a full timer. But, I am off the road to help take care of my Mom. However, everything I own is in my van and I don't have a domicile. I still consider myself a full timer. Who cares what anyone else thinks?

    2. So is anything with wheels a full timer?

    3. Hi Richard,

I'm going to a plumber to re-run the copper line which should be the end of that problem.

Fulltiming definition does NOT include moving around. An RVer may be a fulltimer and never move. I am not that kind of fulltimer as you may see for yourself by reading my Blog. I move around a lot.

    5. Hi again, Richard,

You ask, "So is anything with wheels a full timer?"

Answer: "Only if those wheels are on an RV."

  9. Yes, definitely let us know what works. I am constantly misplacing things. I do try to always put stuff in the same place, but it does not always happen. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving!

    1. Hi Grandma,

So far, doing what I do with concentration, works for me.

Misplacing stuff, I firmly believe, comes from absentmindedly doing things. And not being aware of doing those things.

  10. George,
For some reason your next post is not appearing as it should. I see only a burnt orange page.

    Something is wrong.

    1. Hi Marilyn,

Sometimes when I make a Blog post, there is an error in the HTML code behind that post.

I check my posts, almost immediately after publishing them. If you tune-in right after I publish, there may be errors like the orange page you describe.

I myself have viewed my Blog with that orange color showing with no text. I was able to correct. Took me about 5-minutes to do that correction.
