Ready

Day 49
Tránsito and Scampy
Ready to Roll

7am - Yesterday it was learned that Tránsito would not start because his battery had a very low voltage. We went over to O'Reilly Auto Parts and bought a real good battery charger. A Schumacher #SSC-1500A-CA charger.

The Schumacher was left to charge all nite. This morning we checked Tránsito's battery's specific gravity. The SG is 1.25! That is SG pretty good. Around 85% of a fully charged lead-acid battery. 100% would be 12.65 SG.

8am - First run!
George, Tránsito and Scampy drove out of U-Haul and headed toward O'Reilly Auto Parts. We need something there. But the reality of this drive is to test out how Tránsito is as a tow vehicle.

Tránsito is terrific! Little Honda is not even in the same league as Tránsito!

7pm - Little Honda went home
Little Honda went home this evening with a very nice guy. He's the manager of a video/TV store in the City of Salem.

If all works out as we believe that it might, Little Honda shall live with this guy forever more! ♥️

  1. I think you made a good decision to get Transito. Towing 1700lbs is really very light. With Transisto, you have lots more space to carry more water, add a little battery bank, get a small 12v fridge for hot days, store more food etc. There are so many things that will be improved on your travels with Transito. Hooray to Transito!

    1. Hi Point,

You have ideas for Tránsito that never occurred to me!

You know something? When I bought Tránsito, I did not realize that he's a truck! His chassis has heavy duty frame rails!

Tránsito is built like a rock!

      Thank you!

I only drove Tránsito a couple of miles and already I realized how much better a tow vehicle he is than Little Honda.

Having Tránsito is going to change a lot of things for me. At this point, I do not know what most of those things will be!

      You are referring to:
Not knowing what changes Tránsito coming on to The Team will bring?

    1. Hi Sondra,

      So! You like Tránsito?

When I drove him yesterday, it was sooooo comfortable and quiet.

It will be neat when all the stuff that is all a big jumble in Tránsito's storage area is sorted out!

  11. What an awesome duo you have there Mr. George! I'm getting excited just thinking of all the possibilities Transito has to offer you. Do you think room could be made inside of Transito for you to put a sleeping bag/air mattress or a bed of some sort in case you'd like to take a one or two night simplified camping getaway? And what does sweet little Boid think of the new wheels? You must get Boid a booster for the passenger side seat quickly! I'm proud for you, and that everything worked your way even with a bump or two in the road along the way. Pam in Louisiana

    1. Hi RoadR,

Thank you! what a nice compliment [awesome]!

Yes, there is room for a place to sleep.

Boid has not been introduced to Tránsito yet. Boid has been staying inside Scampy for the time being. The booster that we used for Honda is the booster that will be used for Tránsito.

Tránsito and Scampy look like they belong together. A real good combo. Just like dozens of times before, you solved a problem, put it behind you, and went on with life. Happy travels.

    1. Hi David,

This whole thing with finding and buying Tránsito has been a marvelous time for me.

At first it was very mysterious. It was not clear how it all would work out. But little by little, everything became clear.

And now, here we are!! 😎
