Tránsito

Day 70
Not Perfect Anymore

8:53am:
Late last nite I was driving in the parking lot of 24 Hour Fitness in Salem, Oregon. I heard a sound like something dragging under Tránsito.

I believed that I was now stopped, because I put Tránsito into park. But Tránsito was NOT in park! Tránsito was in REVERSE!

When I went to get out to see what was dragging, my feet began to be dragged on the parking lot pavement. For a second, I did not comprehend what was happening. When I realized that Tránsito was moving, I tried to brake. But because my feet were being dragged, I was not able to quickly brake.

Scampy jack knifed and that messed up the passenger side corner of Tránsito's rear bumper!!!

Getting Tránsito Perfect:
Tránsito's exterior was almost perfect. There were only a few very minor blemishes in his body. I was planning on taking Tránsito to Sameday Auto Scratch & Dent Repair in Beaverton [Link].

But now Tránsito has this bumper damage. He must to go to a body shop before going to Sameday.
A bit distressed:
I have to tell you that I am a bit distressed about this. And disappointed in myself too. Because I went driving at nite without being extra careful.

At nite I must pay extra attention when driving. Because I have developed orientation issues in recent years. Remember when I Blogged to you about being unsteady on my feet during a date with Barbara several months ago? That date was at nite too.

Last nite I messed up by NOT being extra careful!

Darn it!

10:45am:
We moved out from Nite Camp, heading toward Trachsel Body & Paint in the City of Salem. This is the shop that did Little Honda's rear bumper to get him sales-ready. Trachsel did a good job on Little Honda.

So, now Tránsito is in the works to get into perfect condition. Soon, the the terrible jackknife thing that happened to us will descend into our past.

Good riddance!

11:16am:
As we drove away from Trachsel, we saw a "Hair Salon" sign on the building next door. Parking in the alley, we asked in the salon for a haircut. Ten minutes later, a senior named Sally was cutting George's hair! 😎

George - Haircut & shampoo
12:08pm:
12:02pm:
We've Afternoon Camped in a small park with a place where the Scampy Team may stay next to the grass. Very important thing for us to be next to grass today!

Mr. Sunny is going to use his solar power to charge Scampy's deep cycle battery. Where would Mr. Sunny setup if there were no grass? On the sidewalk?!

Mr. Sunny - On-The-Job!

9:03pm:
Rowena has invited me over for Lumpia [After several months of me begging her to make Lumpia for me].

Late this afternoon, The Scampy RV Team drove north thru dastardly terrible traffic to Beaverton where Rowena lives. The Scampy Team will remain here messing around until we have to return for Tránsito's body damage repairs.

Lovely Rowena with her best smile! 😎

  1. Before cataract surgeries on both eyes, I couldn't drive at night. I had the surgeries in October and I can now drive at night and see things clearly. However, I still have this panicky feeling when I drive because the cars, trucks around me whiz around too fast especially on the freeways. I drive keeping up with traffic and stay in the slower right lane. I need to get use to driving more at night...I rarely go out at night unless it's absolutely necessary. Be careful George.

    1. Hi Rita,

Thank you for sharing about your eyes and your driving.

The combination of feeling panicky and driving at night may be extremely difficult. Very easy for me to see how this could happen.

  2. I understand that you are upset but at least you did not get hurt. The bumper can be fixed. On the whole you are doing very well, much better than I would. Cheers to you. 😀

    1. Hi David,

The thing is, I am a bit of a perfectionist. Maybe compulsive?

Because I will do something over and over 'till its right by me!

I expect more from myself than what happened last nite in the dark.

  4. Glad YOU are safe George. A bumper is a small price to pay compared to what could have been.

What stopped transito? The drag from jackknifing or did you manage to get back in and stop?

  5. Hi Andrew,

What stopped Tránsito is a very good question. Because three things happened almost at the same instant:
★ Me stepping on Tránsito's brakes.
    ★ Scampy jackknifing into Tránsito
★ Scampy backing into a light pole

It's a good thing that Tránsito towing Scampy was backing very slowly at the time!

    1. Hi MR,

You know something, MR. I was moving sooooo slowly when Scampy jackknifed! It would have been a miracle if I would have been hurt.

I was a good thing and "best news" [As you wrote] that nobody got hurt!

  7. "Last nite I messed up by NOT being extra careful!"

As I age, I find myself doing dumb thing I wouldn't have done years ago. Earlier today I almost caused a wreck by pulling into a street and not properly judging how close and fast an oncoming car was going.
I no longer drive at night for any reason. The lights of oncoming cars bother me and I can't read the street signs very well.

As is commonly said. Growing old isn't for sissies.
    Take care

    2. Car headlights on oncoming cars and car lights hitting rearview mirror caused my eyes to tear up and blind me at night. And, I could not read street signs well. Found out I had cataract and had surgeries for both eyes. OMG I could not believe the clarity after eye surgery...colors popped, I could read license plates, street signs and ad signs along the highway and headlights became almost pinpoints...no more blindness at night from car lights. I can drive at night!!! However I rarely drive at night....still get nervous with cars/trucks zooming around although I drive the speed limit...everyone else speeds at least by 10 mph.

    1. I do not appreciate you talking about Fran that way. I love that man dearly and he has done nothing but spread love and positivity to others. He is a good man and he does NOT deserve to be called a "rodent" If anything, you're the one who is the bad guy for even saying this. I've only known Fran for a little while but it is clear to see how amazing he is and if you can't see that, I suggest you keep your thought to yourself because I am sickened to the even read this. You should be disappointed in your own self.

    2. Hi Cece,

Here are some things that I would like to point out to you:
➜ First of all, you yourself are not the person whose name is on your comment!
➜ I believe that you are actually the person that you called Fran.
➜ Your name is NOT Fran. Your real name is:
      Edward Lawson Kohler!
➜ Actually, when you were younger you were known as Eddie!
➜ Yes, Eddie, you are definitely a rodent. I am stating that because of the way you are manipulating your own children into believing lies about the Mother of your children!

Despicable! That is what you are. And before you reach the end of your time here on Earth, you shall be severely punished for the terrible acts that you have committed against your own family!!

And I shall see all of that come down and know that I predicted that this would happen to you!

      Have a nice day, Eddie!

    3. Thank you George for speaking out about such an
Important topic. It's really hard for a parent to go
Through such things and the children suffer too.

    4. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Cece is a real person. She is a friend of my daughter Kawena who told her about this blog. She responded on her own out of personal outrage. She told me that she posted a reply. Shame on you for showing such disrespect.
It is a sad thing when a biased old man will publically twist the good intentions of a hurt and suffering family who's mother has decided to leave her family and go another direction in life. I am sure that she has her own reasons but she has never shared them with us.
I personally take exception to your mean spirited comments. They are vile and untrue. One only need ask the children - Francis, age 20, Thomas, age 17 and Kawena, age 13 about their relationship with their mother.
It is true that I was born Edward and I still carry that name to this day - Francis Edward Lawson Kohler. I legally added Francis to my name 40 years ago after a tornado in my home town destroyed the life I had then. Rowena was called Weng since childhood by her parents and was called that until recently. Is that reason to publically ridicule her a well?
This is no forum for lies or public assination of character. No one has asked for my side of the story and the very blog posts written years ago of those making such comments show a different opinion of me.
Strangly enough all of Wengs blog postings from that time have dissapeared. I have nothing to hide and I invite any that are interested in knowing the truth read my entire, unedited blog - The Oracle Of Aticama.

I expect that this reply will be deleted by the author of this blog. After all, diviorce for any reason is painful but it is a private matter and it is shameful and petty for anyone who chooses to inflict humiliation on another just because they are blind to the truth. I do not ask about the nature of your relationship with Weng, George. Kindly leave me and my family out of your further comments. We have suffered enough. It is not my place to judge you, your intentions or your dangerous to the public driving habits. It is not your place to judge us either.

    5. Hi Bill,

Maybe I should not give you the low down, and truth.

But hubby, in my opinion, turned out to be something of a rodent. And the castle-like place in Aticama actually had:
      ★ No doors
      ★ No windows

And Angel Weng just winged off into the heavens and left her life there in Aticama joyously behind! 😀

    6. Hi Eddie,

No, your reply shall not be deleted. Unless you yourself delete it.

In my opinion, you practice intimidation on your children in order to get your children to be against their own Mother.

In my opinion, that is not only despicable, it is a sign of your sick mind.
