Awake

Day 134

Cannot Sleep

1:51am:
Because of the crazy things happening to me lately, and the burn pain, I have not been able to fall asleep. Even my sleeping pill did not work. My mind is too active.

September 20, 2010 was the day that my Son David killed himself. Seven years since then! Today, September 21, 2017, would have been David's 53rd birthday.

Why did I Blog about David? I do not know? Maybe because David is on my mind.

.

Jojoba Hills
I left a voice mail message for my friend Pete Olson telling him about Jojoba Hills removing my name from their Wait List.

Pete iMessaged me that he is mystified about that. He says he will see if he is able to find out anything.

I bought Twayler because having an RV was a requirement to get on Jojoba'a Wait List. Now I have two RVs, and no Jojoba.

9:04am:
Accepting what happened
I've gone over in my mind, what happened with Jojoba.

My deposit check has been returned. My Wait List place has been cancelled. Jojoba is over for me.

I will proceed to sell Twayler, and continue on in my travels with Scampy and Tránsito.

10:43am:
Twayler
On second thought, Twayler is staying with us!

1:03pm:
Generator
Although a generator is only needed on rare occasions, when those occasions occur, a generator is vital!

I got a Honda EU1000i generator this morning, because I could no longer charge anything. Mac and iPhone were on the ragged edge of not operating.

With the Honda charging for only two hours, everything is looking good! Even Specific Gravity! 1.235 SG!

4:55pm:
Kaiser Emergency
This afternoon my friend Pete Olson and I spoke together on the phone. Pete urged me to see a doctor to make sure that my burns are not infected.

My doctor at Kaiser assured me that there is no infection. My burns were then dressed with a new medication. Silver SulfaDiazine cream.

Also, I am going to the Legacy Burn Center for treatment.

8:47pm:
Backups
Well, here is the bottom line. One backup is not enough. Two is not enough either. Three? Four?

This evening we went thru four power sources: [All failed!]
➜ Samlex inverter
➜ SuperStart battery booster
➜ CyberPower inverter
➜ Honda generator
And when we started the Honda up, it sputtered and quit. The gas tank should of arrived full. It wasn't!

  1. Same here George. I still think of my departed son every night. Just like he is beside me. I think that that he is in another dimension and is able to communicate somehow.

  2. I know a fair amount about the Escapees Parks, having frequented them in the past. Never heard of someone being dropped from a waiting list. I do know that they are self-governing. Sounds like you have somehow made an enemy from their ranks. Hope you can find out more...

    1. The Co-ops are very different from Escapees Parks. They are governed by a Board of Directors and most have rules and bylaws that are followed, some very restrictive. Escapees headquarters generally have no say in how the Co-ops operate.

  3. Maybe they found out about your run in with the law? But you are still innocent before proven guilty. Curious about the outcome. You are in need of a big hug. All you long time followers...anybody near to give George some encouragement??

  4. George, shit happens. All unfortunate but not that bad. Right now I think the burns and the hole in your heart from loosing David are the worst of it. Know you are in the thoughts and prayers of your on line family. Shana Tova

  7. George, don't make any life changing decisions when you are in pain and upset. Let things settle down for a while then decide about Jojoba Hills. Please

    1. Carol and Bill,

Jojoba returned my deposit. Notified me that my name has been removed from their wait list. Reminded me that my name may be removed from their wait list without cause.

      That's it. Game over.

  9. George, Don't act rashly about selling your big trailer. There are numerous parks around. Jojoba is only one. CA has another nice park in N.CA - Park Sierra. You might look at that. And it's cheaper to buy in.

  10. I remembered David too....I had been reading your post when the tragic events happened. It seems so totally unfair that things happen in the negative before you or David are proven 'not guilty.' I'd wait until Pete finds out happened to Jojoba wait list to sell Twayler. Besides you might be able to get on another RV park waiting list just like Jojoba. Get well soon.

  11. George, why not call the SKP CO-OP, in Casa Grande, Az.
Called Rover's Roost, it is located just west of CG. It is the first SKP, CO-OP facility. Very few frills, but nice people. They only have 122 lots, but the waiting list moves very quickly. Here is there website http://www.roversroost.com/

  13. Giving up on Jojoba or have you already heard from Pete? Hard to believe them not keeping you up to date since your last post on days left. Why won't you take Enid's suggestion to go through proper channels for an official answer?!? Is Pete on the board - will his input be first or second hand?

    1. You said "I've gone over in my mind, what happened with Jojoba." Which is . . .? Wouldn't you want to know exactly why, even if negative - a lesson learned, rather than ignorance? Don't dig that hole too deep. Live and learn.

    2. Barb A,

If Jojoba was inclined to tell me why, they should have picked up the phone and called me.

Instead, they chickened out and sent me a check to return my deposit.

      Wow! Bummer!

George we have followed you for years now and still cant think of anything to say that would make you feel any better. Just hang in there, one day at a time...Love Guy and Sue

  16. Pretty clear what happenned. Someone with influence reads this blog. They didn't like something so proceeded to bad mouth George. A weak Board caved in and to show they were weak provided no reason as they were entitled to do. Glad you learned about the politics before you settled. You want to roam anyway. Move on.

    1. Bob, that is a little far fetched. These type of private parks are a little like country clubs; when it gets close to the time of determining who stays and who goes on the wait list, a lot of factors are considered, one of which is age; the powers that be want the right age mix (for example, an average mix of between age 50 to 80); and at this time, they may have too many members in George's age range. But the park should let George know why; maybe they are afraid of being accused of age discrimation.

  19. Jojoba may have their reasons but can you imagine trying to please a place like that even if you were to convince them to change their minds?
George, I think you dodged a bullet by not moving there. I would never want to be somewhere that didn't welcome me with open arms.
There are so many places to explore that, I think, will love your lifestyle and personality. Keep looking.

  23. George check out the 1000 Trails system. I know it's against your philosophy, but you can't find a better deal for RV camping for full timers.

The parks are a mix between primitive campgrounds and RV resorts and lie somewhere in the middle.

My wife and I have been in the system for over 2 years at the Elite level, our monthly payments are around $175 and that's with full hookups most of the time, though some don't have sewer and you have to use the dump station with a dump tank.

Some of the parks have land that is nothing short of spectacular and most are in wild areas.

With our membership You can stay up to 3 weeks at each one and make reservations up to 6 months in advance which you can alter and change at will.

This way you will have low cost RV camping, the ability to travel the US cheaply, and the companionship of fellow RVers. Most whom we meet in the system are extremely nice and friendly.
