Cleaning house

Day 122

Delete The Scammers

11:31am:
Yesterday's Blog head-fake worked! I Blogged a message meant for the scammers who tried to take over my comment board. Especially one despicable scammer who may have commented under several names.

With that Blog message, I cleared them out. From now on, if I detect any scammer's comment, by any name, they are now on notice that Crusader George shall delete them out!

Good Readers should understand not to reply to suspected scammers. If you read a comment that you would like to reply to, first click on that commenter's name. If there is no biography posted behind that name, do NOT reply!

.

Because if you do make a reply to a scammer's comment, when I delete the original comment, your comment will be deleted as well.

11:56am:
Power crises
In recent weeks, forest fires have arrived with huge impact on the areas where the Scampy RV Team has been traveling. The dark day skies sooooo muffled the Sun's energy, that for many days we ended our day with LESS battery power than we began!

Yesterday evening we ran smack-dab into a power crises! At day's end, we had low voltage in Scampy's house battery. And our backup power source, Tránsito's engine starting battery, was down to low as well. We were desperate!

12:45pm:

Burger guy to the rescue!
We went to a coin laundry this morning to do our wash. Next door was a burger joint. On a whim, I went inside and asked if the owner was here. At that moment, a guy walked from the outside, into the kitchen. "That's him!", the counter girl told me.

Me: Hi, I'm George.
Lay: My name is Lay. What can I do for you?
Me: This is going to be a kind of strange thing. May I pay you to use your electric power?
Lay:  Sure! I'll meet you in the back.

Lay took my long extension cord and plugged it in. "Does it work?", he asked.

It did work. Right now both Scampy's house battery and Tránsito's engine starting battery are being charged!!!!

Weird thing note:
Just now, the sky cleared for the first time in many days. The Sun is shining brightly! Go figure?

3:24pm:
Stop the charge
We have been charging our batteries for over 2-1/2 hours, and the specific gravity reading remains the same. About 1.20 sg. When a battery has been in a state of discharge for a long period, it takes days, not hours to bring it up.

We are breaking off battery charging for now. Hoping for Sun during coming days!

7:05pm:
Supper Camped
[In the Fred Meyer parking lot]
Scampy's kitchen is so very easy to prepare meals in! Nice lighting. Sink right there. Cool!

Fettuccine with mushroom and onion sauce

8:03pm:
Like watching TV at home
Since switching from Verizon to T-Mobile, I've noticed my video speed has increased immensely!

I like to watch PBS News in the evening. With Verizon, the program would stop and start. But now, with T-Mobile, it's just like watching PBS at home. Just keeps rolling along! Gotta love it! 😎

I am not a "scammer", but a faithful reader who went full time after following Tioga George for many years.

There is no biography when you click on my name. Am I now a scammer? I hope not, as George, Mavicita and the rest of the old team are our inspiration... :)

    1. acheapguy,

No, you are not a scammer. I have known you when I have not been bothered by a scammer.

However, having a biography is one way I have to know who is or who is not a scammer.

There's no bio on mister Ed
Well there is the, key is to find it
Not haveing anything there was left blank on purpose to hide my site
It started out as an rv blog but today,, 99% is not rv related any more
So leavening it blank makes someone a scammer ???

  2. I wonder, how much grid power is used to charge rv batteries like you did today? What would the cost be? I'm guessing it would be minimal.

    1. living.boondockingmexico,

When my big solar panel is up and running, that number would be zero!

    2. Assume he charged 10 amps at 13 volts. That's 130 watts. Allowing for charger efficiency, let's say 150 watts at the 115vac power outlet. Let's say he charged for 2 hours. That's 300 watt hours, or about .33 kwh. Assuming $.15 per kwh, it comes out to about 5 cents. Someone check my math please.

    3. living.boondockingmexico,

I am little concerned with the energy used for charging.
      But, it's not much.

The only thing that I am interested in doing is bringing up the specific gravity of the battery fluid. The voltage, in my opinion, is really a useless number.

When the specific gravity is above 1.23 you are doing great.

Wasn't the Isolator installed for that purpose

    2. July 11. Your post
Are you wondering what happened to Tránsito at the auto repair place?
All I asked was a simple question,, thank you

    3. Ed,

July 11th? Two months ago? You are asking a question about something that happened way back then, and expect me to field that question without a question of my own?

I'm a scammer then. I don't have any bio next to my name. Only been commenting on your blog maybe since your trip to Israel many years ago. Sent you info on stuff to do. Sent an e-mail recently about park hours where you got into trouble. Sent to via your vagabound address...Didn't want to make it public. Never got response...SO Guess I'm a spammer.

    1. Wobbley Box,

I am having to get rid of scammers now. Not years ago. And, I shall get rid of them too.

Do you, Wobbley Box, want to help me get rid of them? If yes, then please, let me do my job. Don't hinder me by hitting me with thinking that I am directing my writing at you. When you know that I'm not.

      Thank you,
      George

  5. Is Transito's electrical system not charging the camper battery when engine is running? We changed most of our lighting in camper over to LED's to reduce current draw. Have 175 watts of solar keeping 2 group 29 batteries charged. On cloudy days we may have to running engine to top off batteries.

    1. Linwood McMahon,

Yes, when Tránsito's engine is running, and he is cabled to Scampy, about 15 amps is sent to the house battery.

You may have noticed that this charging problem began with the fires. Dark skies = little solar charging.

    2. I read that post a few days ago where the smoke was hindering your solar charging. Hopefully that problem will not last much longer for you.

The Sun shone brightly today. By the late afternoon. it was raining lightly!

Is rain good for clearing smoky sky?
