Crescent City

Day 150

Breakfast Camp

8:24am:
Q: What does the Scampy RV Team look for in a Breakfast Camp?
A: A flat place so that our skillet stays put on Scampy's stove!

Scenery is nice. So is a sunny morning. A quiet place.

This morning we asked Google for directions to Beach Front Park. When we got close to the park, in front of us we saw what appeared to be a beautifully restored 1930s Packard car.

Then we saw that the park has been closed off. The lady directing traffic told us that the park is closed for a car show.

So we continued going west and found a place to Breakfast Camp on the 'B' Street Pier Road.

We want to look at the cars today

.

8:40am:
Every day is different
That's why we on the Scampy RV Team love our vagabonding life. Every day is different. And being different, is sooooo exciting for us. We love it!

The Scampy Team on 'B' Street Pier Road

10:03am
The British Invasion
While eating breakfast, Little iPhone was playing Beatles songs.
"All My Loving"
"Love Me Do"
"Can't Buy Me Love"

That music got me thinking about the British Invasion of the 1960s. The Beatles and their music was the catalyst that changed everything.

With the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the Counter Culture Movement really got going.  I believe that my generation was the last of the older generation created by the Great Depression which was mainly driven by money, possessions, big houses, cars!

Counter Culture brought with it the search for reality by using hallucinogenic drugs.

That was when:
➜ Civil rights
➜ Free speech
➜ Anti-war
➜ Feminism
➜ Gay liberation.
.......invaded main stream America!

I lived thru all of that!

12:54pm:
Repair project
We never liked Scampy's dump tank hose holder. The tube length is much too short for a hose that is the correct length [10 feet extended].

The tube got cracked during the time that George was perfecting his trailer backing skills. [George is a good trailer backer now! 😎]

The cracked tube was ugly. We wanted it out!

This afternoon, as Scampy was getting washed, we spotted that tube! The next thing that we knew, George had a drill motor in his hand. And he was going after that tube!

3:44pm:
Orick Nite Camp
We found a potential Nite Camp site alongside a road just a bit east of the Town of Orick. We plan to remain here unless somebody comes along and tells us to skedaddle!

You may view where this Nite Camp is located by clicking on our link at the bottom of this Blog post.

10:20pm:
Almost Full Moon
About an hour ago I went to get a fresh dish towel from inside Tránsito. Outside it was completely dark. I could not see a thing!  So, I turned on Scampy's outside light so I could see where to go.

Just a few minutes ago I looked outside again. The almost full Moon was just rising over the mountain to the east of our Nite Camp. There are absolutely no other lights around here. Just blackness!

    1. Barbara Lane,

I prepared my own breakfast this morning. 2-eggs, sausage link, rye toast, pan fried potatoes. No room for Chart Room!

These Redwood Forests must be one of the wonders of our World.

  6. George, your night Camp location looks nice and quiet! Sounds like you're having a great time adventuring. Did you actually go to the car show?

    1. Jules,

Only one car has driven by MsScampy in the past two hours. So far.......so good!

I drove close to the car show. No parking nearby. I decided to not visit the show.

  7. George, I've heard other 13' Scamp owners agree with you that the 10' dump tank hose holder is just too short. However, I'm curious where did you relocate it? I'll be picking up my 13' Scamp in late December and I'm open to relocating mine. Also, did you get a longer hose? Thanks! And I hope you continue to heal without any further complications.
    Best Regards & Safe Travels,
    -Tom L. :)

    1. Hi Tom,

Scamp's Dump Tank Hose Holder is 26" long. In order to contain a collapsed 10' foot extended hose, the holder should be 40" long.

I have purchased an orange Home Depot 5-gallon bucket to contain my 10' extended Camco dump hose. Works fine. The bucket also contains my rubber sanitary gloves. Also the 90° hose end.

Click [Here] to view a YouTube video about this great hose!
