Healed

Day 157

Burn Wound News!

7:37am:
Do you remember when I got 2nd degree burns when propane gas exploded as I was lighting Wave3 catalytic heater? That was the morning of September 15th.

This morning, all of my wound dressings have been removed! All my burns are healed! One day shy of a month.

I am a fast healer!

7:54am:
Boid news!
For quite a while, we have not mentioned the happiest bird on the Scampy RV Team. Of course, that would be nobody else but our Baby Boid.

Boid is a delight to be around. He is sooooo cheerful. Boid is a great comfort to me. He is always up to something. Like, hanging upside down and looking in his mirror.

When guests come to visit inside Scampy, Boid tweedles at them. A tweedle is a tiny Boid sound. Much softer than a tweet!

In this pic, do you see that Boid is standing on one leg. He only stands on one leg when he is very relaxed.

iPhone captures Boid thru the open cage door.

10:59am:
Cloverdale
We have pulled off Highway 101 to make a Breakfast Camp in the City of Cloverdale.

It's gorgeous day.  A bright and sunny sky. Just a hint of smoke to the south.

As we pulled out of Ukiah this morning, Little iPhone captured the scene of the site where the fire fighters are camping.

Pop Quiz #1
      - Where are we now?

Can you guess where we are right now?

Hint: Think burgers

Pop Quiz #2
      - Where are we now?

Can you guess where we are right now?

Hint: It's Golden

7:05pm:
Arrived Santa Cruz
We just made a Camp near the 24 Hour Fitness Club in Santa Cruz.

It's been ages since we have worked out! There are NO 24 Hour Fitness Clubs in Oregon.

Whoops: I forgot about the 24 Hour Fitness in Beaverton!
So sorry, Beaverton! 😟

BTW: The mighty heart of TrΓ‘nsito did himself proud today! Towed the Scampy RV Team 198 miles! Wow!

  1. That's great news. It looked so sore. Would have thought it would have taken a lot longer than just 1 month. Good for you.

  3. Healing fast is sign of good oxygen levels in the blood, good pressure and especially good circulation. You've got some body parts working well George.

  4. You are heading right into the fire area. Better listen to your radio. There is lots of fire fighting traffic, new evacuations, etc. Be careful.

    1. Mary Kay,

I checked with CalTrans a couple of minutes ago. Highway 101 going south from Cloverdale is clear all the way to the Mexican border.

    1. Hi Stephen,

Whatever got me to heal fast like this, I am truly thankful!

It could not be meds though. I stopped taking all meds in June, 2016.

Once I stopped taking all meds, my health returned and I was able to begin RVing again! Man-O-man with double sugar on it!

  9. Baby Boid is beautiful! We've been traveling; love In-N-Out and wish we had them in South Carolina. We've been in smoke/near fires for 2 months. Yellowstone, Glacier, across Alberta/British Columbia Canada into Vancouver, Victoria, down coastal Oregon and California. So much admiration for first responders and all firefighters everywhere! God bless them all. Have a wonderful time with your son tomorrow. So happy for you!

    1. Hi Bill,

It was those meds that were doing me in!

Last June, on my own, I quit those meds. Look what's happened to my life since then!?

      Amazing! Just completely amazing!

    2. I’m taking 8 different meds for blood pressure and cholesterol. I feel good and would like to stop, but frankly I’m afraid.

    3. Bill,

I understand why you would be afraid.

However, if you wished to test what the side-effects of your medication are, you could discuss with you primary care doctor cutting out all meds for 5-days.

After that 5-day period, you would be able to compare how you feel without meds vs with meds.

When I stopped all meds, my blood pressure went DOWN. And is now within normal parameters.

My blood thinning medication had the side-effect of causing my right hand and foot to twitch due to a cerebral hemorrhage [brain bleeding]. That would have eventually killed me!!

Here I am, more than a year later. I'm an RVer again! Look how my entire life has changed. All due to going completely off my meds! It's a miracle. 😎

    1. Hi Kathy,

      Thank you!

After I took over from the hospital in the care of my wound dressings, I did NOT understand how extremely clean it was necessary to keep my burns! My left hand got a terrible bacterial infection!

My doctor put me on an antibiotic medication for 10-days. And it took all of those 10-days to kill that infection. Very dangerous!

    1. Hi Betty,

I forgot about Beaverton having a 24 Hour Club! Wow! How did I forget that? I've been working out there for months?!

Thank you for your "...such good news..." comment about my burns!

Baby Boid is sleeping now. But if he were awake, he'd be thanking you for the "....beautiful bird..." comment!

      Bye for now,
      George & Boid
