Day 15

The Cane

7:36am:
I was cleaning out MsTwayler's slide out drawers. And there it was! My walking cane. I reached for the cane to toss it into a trash bag.

Then I said to myself: "No!"

Flashback to January, 2016. I was in the Town of Panajachel in Guatemala. My right hand and foot began to twitch. When I walked, my balance was terrible. On returning the the USA, I went to Kaiser to find out why?

Three doctors tried to find out what was wrong. Nothing came up! I began using this cane for balance. Everything physical was going downhill. I felt weak. Tired much of the time.

Then, by way of a miracle, I found out that it was prescription medication that caused all of this! I stopped taking all medication in June, 2016. Three months later I was RVing again!

Will I throw away my cane. No! I will keep it as a memento of how close to dying I came. And how my life turned around.

8:13am:
Solar cable
I am sooooo close to completing the wiring of the solar cable. All that's left, is to work on the cable from the Rover solar charge controller to Scampy's house battery.

Not a lot of work in doing this. Should be done in a couple of hours.

PS: Maybe done this afternoon. I am off doing errands!

12:54pm:
Washing Scampy and Tránsito
I've been washing both Scampy and Tránsito using a tiny dish brush, in the mistaken idea that doing a little washing everyday was the way to go. And that a small brush gets the tiny dug-in dirt. As a result, I've not done any washing for a couple of weeks.

Today I bought a squeegee for their windows, and a nice size brush for washing their bodies.

I'm anxious to use the large brush and squeegee for the first time!

1:12pm:
El Pollo Loco
I'm heading over to Home Depot and Target. On the way is El Pollo Loco. I could not resist stopping for lunch! Love their BBQ chicken! 😎

At Home Depot I want to pick up some good quality rosin core solder and soldering paste. Also a pair of alligator clips [For temporary electrical connections]. Also Rust-O-Leum white enamel spray.

Note: Home Depot is out-of-stock on all of these items! Maybe I should give Lowe's a try. They're just across the street.

At Target I wish to buy a small clothing iron. I need an iron for applying patches to my pants. For some reason, my pants get holes rather quickly! I also bought a Clorox Easy Wring Cotton Mop [Better than my present mop!]

At Stater Brothers grocery, it's baby carrots. My goal is to eat carrots instead of candy and cookies. Don's know if I am able to make this goal! I'm gonna try!

At O'Reilly Auto Parts, I found the large brush and squeegee!

  1. Don't take anything personally George even if it is meant personally!
People are coming from their own point of view. Remember that book
by Don Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements. One of my favorites.
I'm so glad hundreds of people read your blog especially since your experience with all the prescription drugs is such a good one for all
    to know about.

    1. Joan,

I should not reply to comments that irritate me.

  2. It's ok, it happens! Check out that book. I found it very helpful.
A cane could come in handy for many things! Fending off a
    pack of wild dogs!

  4. George, do you think you might be getting holes in your pants from soldering wires or maybe just catching the material on some rough edges? You do so many repair or construction projects, so you may be ready for a heat resistant apron or a carpenter's apron. Sure would save you some money in buying new shorts or new slacks.

    1. Hi Dee,

More likely acid from checking battery. However, my new battery is sealed! 😎

    1. Hi Bill,

More and more, I am not able to find what I want by shopping in stores.

When that happens, like it happened today, I go online, find what I want and buy it!

Today I bought from Amazon, 5-items that I could not find in stores.
