Day 9

Where Are We Now?

10:16am:
You may have wondered, what is the status of selling MsTwayler? What would we do if no buyer bought her?

➜ Regardless of whether we sell MsTwayler or not, all of us, the Scampy Team and MsTwayler are moving to the San Diego area before the end of November.
➜ There are no loan payments for MsTwayler. The only cost for owning MsTwayler is depreciation.

➜ Winter is almost here at Apple Valley. Brrrrrr!

.

10:53am:
Scampy's vinyl floor
We had a team meeting this morning, called for by MsScampy herself! Vinyl flooring was the topic.

After viewing several videos on YouTube, Mr. Dometic introduced a motion to have Old George install the vinyl himself. This motion was seconded by Mac the Computer. Baby Boid then called for a vote!

The vote was unanimous!

Does this guy do vinyl?

12:39pm:
Gotta be small
Living small, as in Scampy small, everything has got to be small!

Right now, our golf clubs are BIG! So, we have ordered a Divnick golf club to replace our set-of-clubs.

3:23pm:
Mama Carpino's
We have heard mighty good things about an Italian restaurant named Mama Carpino's! So, today while we were out doing our errands, we asked Siri to take us there.

Siri balked, BIG time! However, good old reliable Google took us there lickety split!

I've ordered fettuccine alfredo. A bowl of minestrone soup came with it.

This fettuccine alfredo is sooooo much better than my own....
that I am not even in the running!

  1. George, the cost of labor to do Scampy's floor is not a big expense. Spending hours on your knees, even for a healthy young guy such as yourself is NOT WORTH IT! Bob

  2. YouTube is a great teacher. I have found great information on how to do stuff that worked out and saved me a lot of money not having to pay someone else to do it.

    1. Hi Steve,

When I viewed how simple it is to install sheet vinyl, I knew right away that I could do it!

      What a good time! 😎

  3. Hi George - Seriously - check out the Allure products at Home Depot and talk to the people in that dept. I do think you can do this yourself (with knee pads on!). No glue with Allure. My husband did it all in our old 28 ft Tiffin A and that was before his hip replacement surgery. And... We're almost as old as you are -lol. Allure is great! We love it. Has held up perfectly through temperature extremes in NYS, soaking wet dogs coming into rig, lots of foot traffic from people.

  4. I've owned a couple of those adjustable golf clubs. Neither of them felt good when the ball was hit and they were a pain to adjust from shot to shot. Your mileage may vary.

  5. Here's what I'm unable to understand in my post to you the other day
You said,,,,apologize for my "I don't get your comment."
You said you don't understand because there are too many comments
    Here's what I don't understand
What do you mean too many comments,,, in your younger life you worked in and for a machine shop
Every piece of equipment in there had a manual to operate a particular piece of machinery how did you ever understand the manual for each piece of machinery, each step of the manual is set up as a comment to teach
what I posted was very straightforward and able to walk anyone through it
Sometimes when you tell me you don't understand my comment I reread it, and it baffles me that it's not understandable???
    Feel free and please explain

Sometimes you leave me confused too.

Sometimes when we read what we wrote, it seems perfectly clear because we wrote it! However, simple things like punctuation and unwritten nuances in verbalization can change it for others. Be very, very careful in selection of words and punctuation, maybe so careful as to think you`re bring anal. Precision in language is everything.

    2. Ed,

The only thing that I would suggest for you, is take a look at other's comments.

How do the length of your comments compare?

    1. Hi Steve,

I am a very lucky guy. Because I enjoy nearly everything that I do.

Remember when I got arrested in Beaverton, Oregon? And the cop handcuffed me? And then kept me for an hour in the back seat of a cop car?

When I was in that back seat, handcuffed, I got such a kick out of that! I thought to myself:
"Wow! I had to wait almost 80 years for this experience!"

      George

PS: Cost me $4,000 for my lawyer. $500 fine. Even so, still worth the experience.

  7. Hi George - Stan here. I haven't checked on you in along time (a couple of years!) but I am so happy to see you are still here and your same wonderful self. There were some years when I wasn't doing so well - with depression and lots of unhappiness. Reading your postings made me happy, and gave me hope for my own future. Better now! Thanks George - keep on keeping on....

  8. Hey George! I have had great success in making a paper template of the floor, then laying it on top of the sheet vinyl to cut the pattern. Makes installation much easier than trying to lay the vinyl on the floor and then doing all the angles. Large rolls of brown kraft paper are available at most big box stores. You can do it George!

    1. Hi Char,

Yesterday, when I went over to Home Depot, I was showed all the flooring available for our Scampy job.

I chose Allure Plank, Color 101-701 [Kinda light brown wood grain].

If I have the same success as you have had with sheet vinyl, I will be sooooo happy!
