Day 23

Being Polite

6:32am:
I do not ask for much when a Reader wishes to make a comment on my Blog. However, I do ask for one thing! And that is for my Readers to be polite to other Readers. Also, to be polite to me.

Lately, some Readers have taken to being impolite when making a comment here on my Blog. Unfortunately, I got pissed off at some of those impolite Readers. I have had open disagreements in my comments with a few of them. And, I am sad at my lack of discipline in doing so.

.

6:56am:
Mazatlán is warmer
It is getting kinda cold during the early mornings here in the San Diego area. I've considered traveling to the City of Mazatlán in Mexico. My friends Carol and Bill are in Mazatlán now, and I would love to visit with them.

Also, of course, the climate iin Mazatlán is comfortably warm!

Baby Boid becomes a problem if I should cross the International Border and enter Mexico.

The United States has many rules and regulations that apply to Baby Boid if I were going to want to return here with Baby Boid.

11:18am:
The Nutcracker
Of course I loved the Nutcracker. Dancers from children on up! Dancers just beginning all the way to seasoned professionals!

Last nite:
The taxi nightmare from hell!
There was a place to park close to the auditorium, but I was not aware of it until too late. So, I took a taxi. The ride to the Nutcracker went well.

However, the ride back, which had been arranged with the same taxi company, never happened!

The arrangement was for me to phone the taxi company after the performance. I did phone the taxi company, gave them my credit card info as before, and then waited for the taxi to arrive. That was at 9:30pm.

At 10pm, I phoned the taxi company again. A machine answered. Nobody came on the phone to talk with me! I phoned several times. Same thing!

Finally, a woman supervisor of the auditorium's cleaning crew offered to drive me to the Sheraton Hotel where I would be able to hire a taxi. That was a little before 11pm.

I got back to Scampy after midnite!

12:22am:
Credit card
On reaching Scampy, I phoned my credit card company and asked them about the taxi charges. I learned that the taxi company charged my card three times.s Not two times! [Once for the ride to the Nutcracker, which actually happened. And two times for the ride back to Scampy, which never happened]

I explained what had occurred. My credit card company is taking care of the matter and I will not be charged for those two taxi rides that did not happen.

    1. Hi Gumo,

I read your comment earlier. And you reminded me that I had not Blogged about The Nutcracker.

I went right away and Blogged about it!

      Thank you,
      George

  2. Mr.George: your part about being polite , lets take it a different way. what you post in your Blog, you're technically setting the table. AND the tone that goes around at the table
You have the upper advantage to moderate the comments before you post them.

I for one may be a thorn in your backside, however I have always been one to instigate or play devils advocate or have a Blue collar sense of humor. So if any of my comments irritate you in anyway you have the free advantage to delete

As for the parakeet check with any local veterinarian should be a good source of advice

  3. I have at times commented on popular blogs regarding mostly political views. It was then I realized that the author of the blog owned the blog and was entitled to their views, opinions or whatever they wanted to publish. I don't understand why someone wants to "pull your chain" for the sake of personal pleasure. A constructive debate can be resourceful and a learning tool for both parties. However,I read your blog as your personal diary. There have been times when you did ask questions and that's an opening for exchange of info or debate. Let's have fun with George but not at the expense of his being. Roll on, George!

  5. About comments... I see it this way.

This is a personal blog. You invite people into your life. It's a gift. We're your guests here and you're the host.

It is not appropriate for us to come into your blog "home" and complain about what you offer us.

If a guest in my sticks-and-bricks house were rude to me, I'd kick 'em out the door. When they're rude like that in my blog "home," I do the same thing, and I don't feel one iota of regret for doing so.

    Your home, your rules, George.

As always, I'm in your corner!

  6. If you don't have the Uber app on your phone (or don't have a smart phone), you can call gogograndparent.com -- they will contact Uber on your behalf for a small fee. I used them on Thanksgiving Day, having set up an account online earlier. The driver came soon, and the cost was reasonable.

  7. The Uber app on Iphone is the way to go for rides. Forget about taxi cabs. They are a thing of the past. Download it and try it. You will like it. I recently got my octogenarian mother and iPhone and downloaded that app and taught her how to use it. It is increasing her independence. Much cheaper than a taxi and far better. Once you have that app download And your payment information entered, it is so easy to use.
