Day 40

Reader Help

9:11am:
Yesterday a comment arrived where a Reader advised that I should unhitch Scampy before using the tongue jack to level out. That was a valuable comment/suggestion!

I would have liked to thank this Reader. Unfortunately, the comment did not get published and disappeared!

I am thanking that Reader with this post.

Thank you!

1:27pm:
Ventura Cove
This cove is a lovely place. Great view of a large expanse of water going all the way across Mission Bay to the coastal edge of the Town of Pacific Beach. We come here often.

There are very few people enjoying Ventura Cove. Most are crowded into Belmont Park. We don't understand why visitors like to go where others are so close together.

2:20pm:
Darkest Hour movie - Again!
I've just purchased tickets online to go see the movie, Darkest Hour. Yes, I just saw Darkest Hour for the first time a few days ago!

This movie is that good! Of course, I love movies based on actual historical events. Also, Winston Churchill is one of my favorite heroes.

6:50pm:
Like Going Back In Time!
Sitting in the movie theater and watching Winston Churchill is, for me, like going back in time.

That is how it was for me today. I was back in 1940. I felt the doubt in Churchill's mind when all was going against him. I heard Churchill going to talk to the people in a London subway. Asking those people what they felt about giving up against the Nazis.

"Never!" That's what those people all called out to Churchill in reply!

Man-O-Man! Double wow with sugar on it! I am so very high from being back in 1940 by way of this fantastic movie!

  1. Provided that your tongue jack has the proper capacity, it is unnecessary to unhook before leveling. I've leveled without unhitching many times over the past 35 years.

    1. Thank you for your take on this matter.

There seems to be disagreement among RVers about hitching or unhitching before leveling.

  2. I'm glad it was helpful. When it never showed up I was a little confused. These days I'm confused a lot. And I'd only unhitch if it appeared I was lifting Transito more than just unloading the rear suspension. And I'm glad Mr. Ed has made it to the new year. All the best George. Looking forward to following your next adventure.

    1. Hi Bob,

I have no clue where your comment went.

There seem to be bugs in Blogger's comment programming.

IE: Some Reader's comments go directly to the Spam file when that Reader has NEVER been identified as a spammer.

  3. I believe that must have been what hapened to the 2 or 3 comments that I have made that never showed up.

    1. Bill,

You are not the only commenter whose comment got swallowed up. Reader Joan lost more than you!

Now, I check the Spam file constantly. Looking for comments that for some reason have been diverted there.

  4. I noticed you had leveled without unhooking but I figured it helped you stay in stealth mode.

    1. Hi Davy, K & OB,

No. It had nothing to do with stealth mode. It just did not occur to me to unhitch.

Now that I'm a bit more experienced with leveling out, both hitched and unhitched, I feel that unhitched is safer. This concerns leveling front to back, not side to side.

    1. Hi Suz,

Did something happen to "T-shirt and short pants weather?"

I cannot imagine what that could be?

    2. You're wearing long pants at the beach.

    3. OK! Yes I am wearing long pants.

The weather has been in the low 60s lately. A bit too chilly for me to be wearing short pants. Soon the San Diego area should be in the 70s again! 😎

  6. Weather you leave the trailer hooked up or unhooked doesn't really make much of a difference. it doesn't matter, but a suggestion for safety sake. make a tag type flag attached to your steering wheel that's a reminder Similar to Aircraft tags,,,, remove before flight,,,,
Some people use large bright colored hair gators or a cloth bright flashy scarf anything that makes you stop and think why it's there.
That will act as a visual mental safety reminder that way you don't drive off and accidentally do damage .

    1. Ed,

Interesting! I never thought of that.

I have had a problem with opening Scampy's door while Boid was free.
