Lost and Found

Eyeglass Report

8:56am:
After pondering about what to do about my missing eyeglasses, I decided to phone my optometrist for advice.

He advised me that he would be able to replace my missing glasses and give me 60% off. So, that's what I've done. Bought replacement glasses from my eye doc.

The frames have very strong hinges. I've had problems with hinges breaking. These should last a long time. If I don't lose them!

In the meanwhile, I'm getting along with my old glasses.

Remembering 2003
During my first year on-the-road, I drove MsTioga thru Tijuana in Baja California, Mexico. As I recall, I ended up staying in a small town south of Tijuana.

I met a guy who was having battery problems with his car, and I helped him by jumping MsTioga's battery to his car. He offered to let me camp in front of his rented home which happened to be right on the beach of the Pacific Ocean!

This fellow and his wife were paying $450/month for a beachfront rented house! That rental price blew me away! Because if that house was located only 30 miles to the north, it would be in San Diego where rental for a two-bedroom beachfront could be several thousand per month!

I've wondered for years about this difference in rental price.

  1. Maybe you should look at renting a place for a month or two down there George. Rental priced in Mexico have always been very cheap, in some cases cheaper than paying for an RV park on the beach.

    1. Hi Croft,

Well, actually, I do not stay in RV parks.

  2. George, usually an optometrist's storefront selling frames for prescription glasses will also sell a variety of styles of lanyards for your glasses; when you pick up your new glasses, ask them about the lanyards, and they will fix you right up.

  3. Glad to hear about the wonderful Optometrist. You might want to check out the frames that have hinge springs in them... These have saved us many times.
