Camping in forest

Note: The problem that I had earlier today with Approving and Publishing your comments has been corrected. Thanks for your patience! 😎

7:28am:
The main thing that I learned from our recent Forest Camp was that I should never drive Señor Tránsito in a place where his front wheel drive weakness is tested! Also, it's too cold up there at an elevation of near 6,000 feet at this time of year.

The Scampy Team would be much better off to do more research about future camps in the forest. We did not need this kind of research when MsTioga was alive. But now, with the Scampy Team, we do!

At 80+ years of age and with all of my many years of camping with Ms
Tioga, I do not need to test myself like this anymore.

8:10am:
Exercising in Temecula
This morning, I plan to go to the Temecula 24 Hour Fitness. This is a very nice club. Lots of good equipment.

There is something that I'd like to share with you about my exercising results.

I've noticed that my physical coordination has returned to a level that I used to have when I was younger. I'm referring to daily things that I do. For example, putting on my clothes and shoes. Dressing is easier for me after several months of exercise.

Is this weird for you to contemplate?

12:20pm:
Great workout!
Today's workout was wonderful for me. My muscles are coming along nicely.

Now, the Scampy Team is returning to San Diego

4:25pm:
Cleaning Scampy and Tránsito
We just completed washing all of Scampy's exterior walls. Washing Scampy is done with dish soap dissolved in water.

For Tránsito we applied Meguiar's Ultimate Black on all his exterior black plastic parts. Wow! Came out great!

Cleaning like this is never-ending. Gotta love it!

PS: What do think about us camping in Capitol Reef National Park's Fruita Campground around the beginning of May 2018?

  1. Good morning George. I see you went pass Idyllwild towards Banning which is much too steep, I believe, for towing. Yes, research, research before heading out. I had seen Forest Lake, and a few camping areas in Idyllwild on google maps. I hope that you did enjoy the change in scenery and now know a little more of the area. I've been all around that area and Palomar mountains are beautiful but some areas are very steep. BTW, I'm glad your coordination has returned.

  2. Exercise, the best thing you can do to stay healthy and active. Helps to keep people from falling and breaking hips from which many don't recover, avoids that old man shuffle, supports red cell growth, the list goes on and on. I couldn't imagine my life without it. 1 hour a day at the gym plus 10,000 steps is less than 10% of a 24 hour day. Keep it up!

  3. Capitol Reef sounds like a capital idea! Looks like you'll need a reservation now. $10/nt for Senior's pass, what a deal! Your workouts are an inspiration to me. Also, we recently spent a few nights at Jojoba Hills & never would've known about that if not for you. Hate that didn't work out for you long-term, but maybe something even better lies ahead.

    1. Hi Bill,

Capitol Reef is out. No campsites available in 2018 that I could find.

I plan to find camp sites away from National Parks.

  6. Utah is so beautiful. Perhaps more planning on what to see and do. Capitol Reef is a starting point. They have some new wrinkles you may know of... here: https://www.nps.gov/care/planyourvisit/conditions.htm
