Blood pressure

7:43am:
This morning I'll be going Kaiser to have my blood pressure rechecked. You may recall that when I went to have my Pacemaker checked on May 4th, my blood pressure was checked as well. The reading was 144/78.

This BP reading is very unusual for me. In January 2018, my BP was 114/75. In February 2017 my BP was115/71.

I am in better physical condition today than I have been for years. I do not add any salt to my food and am being very careful with my diet.

If today's BP check comes out high again, I may request BP medication from my Kaiser doctor.

Blood pressure result
I've just returned from having my blood pressure rechecked. It's 157/86.

When I was not exercising regularly. When I was eating everything. When I was using salt. My BP was normal?

I have not used any blood pressure control medication since June 2016. I do not wish to go back on BP medication now.

My plan is to increase my aerobic exercising. Reduce the amount of food that I eat. Get my weight to decrease from 160 lbs to 150 lbs.

Then get my BP rechecked.

  1. Blood pressure fluctuates from day to day so I would not be too concerned about any one reading. Stress and even slight tension in shoulders or arm can result in high readings. I take my blood pressure daily at the same time and place. My doctor reviews the results I record in a Numbers spreadsheet to see trends and calculated averages over time. I've been happy with this blood pressure monitor. The A/C adapter saves money on batteries.

  2. George. Im no scientist so Im not endorsing this. But the low-carb diet has been known to decrease bad cholesterol and raise the good stuff despite people eating mass amounts of meat and fatty foods. Might be worth reading up on

  3. I think you are going wrong way with reducing food intake when incressinc your workout. Suggest you talk workout and food intake.

    1. Hi Dale,

Thank you for sharing your opinion.

However, I believe I have been eating too much food. I'm not radically reducing my food intake. Mainly, I have stopped eating cookies and candies and potato/corn chips.

  4. George, the low carb diet will raise cholesterol, NOT
    Lower it.
Eat a balanced diet, try and eat less meat and vegetables. At this point in your life try not to take BP medicine.
    You gained 15lbs rather quickly.

    1. Hi AC,

Take a look at my 05/11/2018 Blog post.

In that post, I wrote about how many burgers and steaks I eat.
