Data Usage

10:10 am:
Today is the 2nd day of my T-Mobile billing period. My phone shows that I used 1.62 GB data. How could I use that much data in only one day?

However, if during the rest of this billing period I continue using this amount of data each day, I will not exceed my 51 GB data allotment.

11:10 am:
Mac Keyboard Problems
For several days my arrow keys have sometimes jumped! Not all the time, just sometimes.

For example, the up arrow jumps to the top of a page! And the down arrow moves to the bottom of a page.

Also, the delete key does not work as a backspace anymore!

I've been working this morning for about two hours to figure it out. Finally, doing a Google search, I was led to the fn key. When I examined the fn key, it looked stuck. When tapping the fn key, it did not move. The fn key was bottomed out in the down position!

I pried the key off and cleaned the key's edges, then replaced the key.
That fixed it!

I don't know about you, but when my computer malfunctions like this, I get so upset!

11:28 am:
Heading Out
Now that my Mac is working correctly once again, the Scampy Team is ready to head north again!

Yaayyy!

We arrived at an overlook of The City of Lewiston. Little iPhone captured a pic showing the confluence of the Clearwater and Snake Rivers.

Clearwater River on left. Snake River on the right.

Note: The confluence of these rivers is visible on the lower right.

2:30 pm:
Beautiful Grass
Here in Idaho, there are miles and miles of grass growing in fields alongside the highway. This grass is so very gorgeous!

When the grass is short it's a light green color. When it's tall it's deep green like in the pic below.

I have never seen signs of this crop being harvested. Could it be mowed?

What is this grass?

5:15 pm:
Moscow Idaho
This morning I did not eat a balanced breakfast. All carbs. No protein.

As a result, this afternoon I completely ran out of energy! I had to setup Scampy's bed and take a 1-hour nap. I turned iPhone's music on low to keep Boid happy while I slept.

When I woke up I made a half cheddar cheese sandwich. Now I'm feeling better again.

Nite Camp is in Moscow Idaho. We only traveled 30 miles today!

  1. I've noticed that updates occur during my first day of a new cycle since the phone won't update at a slow connection speed. I disallow all updates and turn off my phone the first week when its night. Seems to stop the phone shenanigans.

    1. Hi Janet,

My big data usage comes from movie and YouTube videos.

From now on, I plan to be on WiFi when I do updates.

  3. Mister Ed says: But my real foolish question is how can you go through 51 GB In less than a month are you running some kind of business on the side, that's using that much bandwidth... 51 gig comes out to 1.7 gigs per day
You may want to check with Kevin / Ruth they could tell you some simple easy ways to get it for free

Maybe you can tell technology geeks what you do to use up that much data and they can help you fix it.

    1. Hi Ed,

A movie video can be 2-3 GB. I view a movie almost every nite. Also, I watch the PBS NewsHour every day.

  4. If you go to your settings on your phone under general look under memory.
It'll say average memory used .
underneath that it'll say memory used by apps,,
in my case I have 42 apps that were used in the last three hours
(My phone has been sitting on the counter all that time.)
You could scroll down and see what apps are running continuously
Once you close that out .
    you can go to apps.
and open that up it will show you all the apps that are running.
you can enable or disable almost anyone of them
(better still delete the ones that you never use)
If your apps are running in the background you're using a lot of bandwidth
Also if you're using your phone as a hotspot it would be suggested to type out your message prior to logging into your hotspot. You might want to think about jumping in and jumping out of your hotspot instead of letting it just run in the background,,,, yes FREE is good but don't give it away to T-Mobile..

    1. Hi Ed,

I am not interested in using my time viewing stuff like you listed in order to see what has already happened. Besides, T-Mobile keeps track of the amount of data that I use.

From now on I'm going to limit the movie and YouTube videos that I watch.

  5. I think the next miserable rainy day you need to pry ALL the keys off to your computer
Clean your computer really good,,, and then put all the keys back,,
??? But the catch is, don't take a picture, don't have a diagram,do it all from memory 👍🆗

  8. Up there they also grow lots of green peas, lentils, barley Very fertile land. Near Coeur d Alene/ Worley they grow grass that they let go to seed . That seed is then sold for home grass seed. They burn the grass fields each fall to stimulate new growth in the spring.

    1. Hi Dirk,

The parts of Idaho that I am RVing thru are the greenest that I have ever viewed!

The forests here in Idaho have many different kinds of trees. And Idaho forests are so very healthy.

In California, by comparison, there are many forests that mainly have only Ponderosa Pine. Diseased forests in California are everywhere.
