Lower Salmon River

12:30pm:
There is no T-Mobile signal in the Town of Riggins. We cruised thru town searching for open WiFi, and none could be detected.

We decided to follow the road that runs east alongside the Lower Salmon River. Our plan is to find a campsite close to the river.

2pm:
French Creek Camp
We did not come across an acceptable site along the Lower Salmon. However, when we reached French Creek and followed the creek’s road a short distance, we found a good site almost immediately!

Our Camp is only 100 feet away from
the sparkly water of French Creek

3:30pm:
Food
I got a bit hungry and began munching Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts. After eating peanuts for awhile, I decided to put away the peanuts and prepare a salad using Trader Joe’s Shredded Cabbage.

The salad was topped with ranch dressing. Baby Carrots, cheddar cheese, and Fresh Gourmet Honey Roasted Pecan Pieces.

Much better for me than salted peanuts.

  1. Good morning George. Nice nite camp. I usually put my water shoes on and step into the stream to see how cold the rivers are. It was 111 degrees in Phoenix last Friday...the highest temp so far this summer. 115 degrees is usually the norm or higher. Enjoy the cool country.

    1. Hi Rita,

I went to go down over rocks to touch the water of French Creek. But I no longer have the balance to walk on rocks like these anymore.

I have to be VERY careful. A fall might end this trip for me!

    2. Have you tried using trekking poles? I use them all the time for walking and hiking. They sure come in handy with my weak left knee.

  3. George, we camped at the Sundown campground in downtown Grangeville. My brother in law used to be in charge of the BLM in Cottonwood, just a little bit to the west. Nice area
