7:30AM - Gold King Mine and Restaurant.
MsTioga drove slowly thru the two main streets of downtown Silverton. We passed the old jail. In the window of the Gold King Restaurant was a sign, "Breakfast Buffet."

In the late 1800s, Gold King was a big mine in the Silverton area. Now it is a restaurant and saloon. Good food! George enjoyed the breakfast buffet.

9:30AM - Heading out for the Town of Ouray.
Readers have warned that the decent into Ouray is steep. And, that there is an abrupt drop off. We asked MsTioga if she were concerned. "Not at all", replied MsTioga!

Isn't MsTioga the bravest thing? Hmmmmm?

11AM - Briefly in Ouray.
The Team did not stay long in Ouray. We wanted to find a free boondock site, and kept driving north looking for one. It turned out that boondocking and drycamping for us in this area is a bit of a challenge! But we love challenges!

1:30PM - Camped south of Montrose.
As we drove north, we were very surprised to find pretty heavy traffic on Hwy 550. MsTioga politely pulled over every two to three minutes to allow vehicles behind us to pass. [Hwy 550 has only one lane in each direction in most places.]

Everybody on The Team kept their eyes open for our Camp. It became clear that we would have to go hunting on a side road, because possible Camps were not visible from the highway.

We found our Camp in a very lightly populated small ranch community. We see no homes from our Camp, but we passed homes here and there as we drove before. It is somewhat desert like here.
