A new blog for George

I have been troubled for quite awhile about the reality of my blog. The Adventures of Tioga and George actually ended in September, 2010 when my son David died. But my blog limped along, because I refused to accept how I was changed by that fateful month.

However, I have changed. At my core, I live a life dedicated to reality. As Dr. Peck wrote in, A Road Less Traveled:
"Our view of reality is like a map with which to negotiate the terrain of life. If the map is true and accurate, we will generally know where we are, and if we have decided where we want to go, we will generally know how to get there. If the map is false and inaccurate, we generally will be lost."

Dear readers, I am in the process of change. I no longer am the man who with my RV, MsTioga, constantly searches for adventure. And my blog is holding me back from accepting the change. I cannot do anything about the change. It has already happened.

Actively clinging to an outmoded view of my reality, is not a healthy way to live. What I must do now is embrace the reality of the change in my life by creating a new blog and writing about what is going on. By writing about my present life, I will be learning what it is that I want to do. And what is more, since my life is dedicated to reality, I will be writing the truth. And writing that truth will lead me in the right direction.

Construction project

Yesterday we went to Madereria Lomas, a little lumberyard in Tequisquiapan. A sheet of plywood is needed to make a new refrigerator vent cover. The original plastic vent cover was lost years ago when MsTioga got too close to an overhanging tree limb. That original vent cover was replaced by a fabricated one. But this replacement was also lost when MsTioga once more got too close to some overhanging object.

Electric installation

Wally is a professional electrician. His day job is at an electrician shop in the City of Tequisquiapan. Our electric installation was done very professionally. A 20 amp circuit breaker was installed into the breaker box located at the meter. The wires runs were clamped to the concrete walls. The aerial run from the pole at the meter to Memo and Terry's house was secured with wire ties which serve as strain reliefs.

Electric power!

Neighbors Memo and Terry visited MsTioga yesterday evening. With them they brought a friend, whose name is Wally. And Wally is an electrician! Wally will do our electrical installation this afternoon. Isn't that great?

Wally gave me a list of materials required for the job. I will buy these things today. Wally will return this afternoon when he comes home from work and do the hookup! When the hookup is complete, all that I need to get electricity is drop my extension cord over Memo and Terry's wall and plug in!

A simple life

My goal is to keep a simple life. Not owning land is a big part of that goal. I almost bought land twice here in Mexico over the past couple of years. Instead, I am camping in my RV at the end of a short dead end dirt road.

My next door neighbors are Memo and Terry. I have a handshake agreement with them to let me use their water and electricity. In exchange, I pay the bills for these two utilities. So, I won't own land. But I will have water and power. Can it get much simpler than that?

Phone problem

You may recall that we are here in the City of Queretaro in order to renew our Mexican immigration card. The plan was to phone Felipe the Fixer this morning for an appointment to meet with him later today.

Yesterday our Telel phone ran out of time, and needed to be recharged. We used a credit card to do that recharge. Instead of going thru immediately as it usually does, this time our recharge shows a status of "Pending".
