Why at the age of 76 years, am I thinking about golf? For walking exercise and social stuff! I just want to give golf a try, to see what it's like.
Hunter's Nursery
Yesterday I biked the 3+ miles to Hunter's Nursery. The first thing that happened there, was that Guy Hunter walked up to say, "Hi" to me. Guy is the grandson of founder Howard Hunter who began the nursery in 1919. Guy told me that when he was a kid, the wide road in front of the nursery was only a narrow dirt road.
I'm driving back this morning to Hunter's Nursery, to buy two hanging fuchsia plants for my apartment balcony.
G'morning, George ... I think I like that Hunter's Nursery ... and I know I like fuchsia ... ;)
ReplyDeleteYou'll likely enjoy Golf. You have the patience for it. I haven't golfed in over ten years, so I need to spend a little time on the driving range before too long.
ReplyDeleteA round of golf is 5 to 7 miles of walking depending on the course if you don't use a cart..
ReplyDeleteI've been unsuccessful at golf due to my self-diagnosis of "poor eye-hand coordination." I taken a series of golf lessons on two different occasions in my life and came to the conclusion that I'd do better somewhere else! Swimming. Jogging / Walking. Hiking. Good luck George. The main thing is to have fun and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the "Frisbee Golf" at the Sun Valley!
ReplyDeleteYour balcony looks great. I tried golf but like Mary-Pat I was no good at it. Have a fun time with it.
ReplyDeleteHi George, A somewhat new sport becoming very popular, is Pickle Ball. It is named after the creators dog. It is played on half of a tennis court. It is like tennis, but not as fast or much running. You use a paddle and use a wiffle (sp?) ball. It takes a few tries to learn the rules and get a feel for it, but it is fun and goes fast. Many older folks are playing. Call your local Recreation Center to see if there are any games near you. You can also google "Pickle Ball locations". Keep having fun. Chris
ReplyDeleteThe plants are lovely; and so is your apartment and balcony! I'm really happy for you, George.
ReplyDeleteHi George, Golf is a great sport. If you do start, make sure to start slow. Maybe look for an "executive" course, which is another name for a "Par 3" course. All the holes are the short, par 3, length. This makes learning the game much much less frustrating.
ReplyDeletePickle ball is a wonderful sport for all ages, especially seniors. Very popular at many senior resorts. Very fun, good amount of exercise, and pretty easy to pick up (unlike golf!!!)
Good luck!
How much exercise do you get on an electric bike?
ReplyDeleteMy electric bike does not provide me much exercise. However, I like to ride this bike instead of driving my Honda.
DeleteWith this type of electric bike George still have to peddle. I know I had a similar electric Giant Suede bike and the exercise was great. At our age George, a half hour walk per day or light pedaling is perfect for us old geezers. Keep blogging George, you're the best.
DeleteI am truly pleased to see Golf Cart Cover designs provided by you. I need a cover which i saw at www.nationalgolfcartcovers.com
