Dealing With Impolite Companies
5am - Companies that treat me badly, are not tolerated much. Yesterday, I had occasion to buy a tiny device that Verizon named Jetpack. This Jetpack is a type of WiFi HotSpot. Jetpack works really well.
When I went online to Verizon to register Jetpack, I found that this is a company that does not have even a tiny clue how customers are to be treated. There are some things that a company may do that just stops me completely.
Phoning a company and finding myself listening to mechanical voices, dealing out ads, asking questions that a human should ask [not a machine], stops me cold. If such rudeness continues for more than a couple minutes, that company has struck out. Forever! With me, one strike your out.
In such a case, I simply hang up. Now, I only will deal with Verizon in the future by US Mail. When Verizon mails me a bill, I mail them a check. No phone calls from Verizon will ever be accepted.
Whatta you think? I'm pretty tough, huh?

12 Noon - Miss Twayler is cleaned up!
We arrived here at The Lone Wolf Colony RV Park in Apple Valley, last Saturday. All of our stuff was contained in 20-Office Depot packing boxes and a couple of giant cloth bags.
Since Saturday, Twayler's inside have been a horrid mess. For a few days, the stuff to cook and eat with [plates, forks, fry pans, etc] had not been found. Only yesterday were we able to prepare a breakfast. A scrambled egg and toasted bagel. Made the breakfast using our cast iron skillet and a plate just found before.
This morning was a break-thru event! The entire kitchen/slide-out area was in condition to have the floor swept and the carpet vacuumed!! 😎
6pm - Back from trip to Victorville
This afternoon Little Honda, Little iPhone and George went tootling around for a look-see. They found themselves in Victorville.
It seems that Apple Valley and Victorville are like one big town. Used to be separate, we suppose. But population growth, eliminated that separation!
Little iPhone captured more hill pics.
We had a Team Meeting, and it was moved and seconded, that a search for other RV parks now, would be timely.
All of us like it here at Lone Wolf at the eastern end of Apple Valley. Likely stay here until the cold weather arrives. Then phone Jonah, our tow guy, and move Miss Twayler to a warmer RV Park.

George,
ReplyDeleteI sympathize and empathize with your experience. I thought you would appreciate what follows:
Robot: "Your call is very important to us."
Victim: "No it's not, or we wouldn't be starting out this way."
Robot: "Please continue to hold, your call is very important to us."
Victim: "Um, we already covered that five minutes ago, so I have to assume my call is actually less and less important to you."
Robot: "Did you know you can get product information and answers to many common questions on our website?"
Victim: "Why, yes, I did! But I wanted to call you, that's why I'm on the phone and not my computer."
Robot: "Please enter your account number."
Victim: "Why? There is a 94.7% chance you will ask me for it again if/when a human being picks up."
Robot: "One of our customer service professionals is providing excellent service to another caller and will be with you as soon as possible."
Victim: (Soda now coming through nose).
Robot: "I'm sorry, but zero is not a valid option." (Returns to beginning of entire menu.)
Victim: "What? Isn't zero the universal option for operator? I need to speak with someone!"
Robot: "I'm sorry, I don't recognize your entry. Ending call now, goodbye." (Click)
Victim: "Did you just hang up on me?"
Hi Scott,
DeleteLoved that! Did you script the story your self?

Bill got so upset one time talking to a robot he swore at it and it hung up on him.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
DeleteLet Bill know that I understand his reaction. I've had those infernal machines hang up on me!

Aggravating! Even more aggravating...My experience with them is you're setting yourself up for an interruption of service. Just my 2¢. Good luck. Congratulations on the return of the Vagabond lifestyle! We love the new replacements on the "team"!!! Ms. Twayler is beautiful! What adventure!
ReplyDeleteHi Kevin,
DeleteThank you for your "Congratulations on the return."
Miss Twayler thanks you for your, "Ms. Twayler is beautiful!" compliment.

DeleteHi Ed,
DeleteYes. I understand your comment.
Let me add this:
We the people are the power. We the people give away our juice when we go along with whatever companies, government, and other entities come up with.
* I do not use self-checkout machines.
* I do not do business with a company that values me so little, that they do not employ humans to answer their phones. If a phone answering device does not turn me over to a human being in about a minute, I am out of there!
* The US Post Office is bankrupt because the Congress forced them to fully fund all of their liabilities [Including postal employee pensions]. While that same congress does even do that themselves for all government pensions. Except for congress person's pensions!!!!!

ReplyDeleteThe reason why you get disconnected it because you said keywords to a computer it is designed to disconnect when it detects certain words
And or phrases
There is one thing worst, a non first language English speaker. Can you say India!
ReplyDeleteHi Squire,
DeleteThat may irritate you. However, why don't simply ask the person that you speaking with to kindly turn your call to another?

Squire, I got a representative (a real person) on the phone the other day with English as their second language when ordering a pair of "rose" quartz earrings for my birthday. I asked for an English first language representative, as George suggested. However, he said that all other agents were busy. Therefore, with much difficulty, he took my order and confirmed my order to my e-mail address. The confirmation was for "red" coral earrings, not "rose" quartz. He had an English problem with the difference between "rose" and "red." Of course, I had to cancel the order!!

Hi George,
ReplyDeleteMy daughter asks to speak to someone she can understand and they abruptly give her call to someone else!
I also wanted to share with you that I have two parakeets, Perky & Pete! They are both 4 years old. A blue one and a green one! They say, "pretty bird & come here"! My 6 year old granddaughters were so excited when they heard them speak!
I'm glad you are getting settled and can vacuum your floor!! Best wishes on full-timing again!
Hi Pat,
DeleteAren't parakeets a fun thing! 😎

ReplyDeleteMister Ed,
DeleteDon't I always reply to your comments?
When I provide off-setting answers to your comment points, do you reply?

Totally off topic, George, but how big was Miss Tioga? Is there a blog post of her description? I'm thinking about downsizing to either a B+ or a C. I travel with several kitties so don't want one that's too small. Do you think 25-27' would be large enough? Thank you for any input you can suggest.
ReplyDeleteHi Judy,
DeleteReaders make the topics. You are a Reader. Comment on what you will.
She was a 1991 Fleetwood Tioga Arrow. She was 27 feet long.
Here's what I did to figure out my comfortable size RV before I met MsTioga.
Go into the largest room in your home. Place a chair in the room.
RVs are about 8 feet wide without slide outs. So, place two lines of books indicating the walls of your future RV. The lines of books will be 8 feet apart. On the right and left of that chair. The chair is in the middle between the two book lines.
Now, all you need to do is find your comfort zone distance in back and in front of that chair.

Tioga George...Well, once again you've worked your way into my first read of my day AGAIN:)
ReplyDeleteGlad to read that you're back into it.
Hi WB,
DeleteSooooo happy to know how you feel about The Tioga RV Team!!

I've been with Verizon for over 15 years now. I've found that the best way to speak to a person is this way.
ReplyDeleteWhen the robot starts talking just say "representative" when it starts again, say "representative". It might take 2 possibly 3 times before it will send you to a person.
Good luck George, hope this helps.
