Day 140
Motel 6
1:01am:
This is my last evening in Beaverton before heading south. I feel so dirty and grubby! Since the propane fire, I have not been able to bathe. The burns were too raw for that.
In the last few days, my burns have improved a lot! I believe that I am now able to take a bath.
There is a Motel 6 down the street from the Fred Meyer where we made our Supper Camp. I phoned over there:
➜ Me: Do you have rooms available for tonite?
➜ Motel 6: Yes!
➜ Me: Do you have rooms with a bath tub?
➜ Motel 6: Yes! All of our rooms have bath tubs.
➜ Me: How much?
➜ Motel 6: $74.38 including tax.
➜ Me: I'll be right over!
.
Checking in
The first thing I did in my room was to check if the bath had hot water? It did!
I stripped off my clothes. This is the first time that I viewed my self in a body length mirror since the fire.
First of all, I am pretty near the beginning of my 80th year. My body is thin. Kinda bony. It's an old body. But still working pretty darn good.
My burns on my face, nose and ears are pretty much healed. There are only two places where my burns are a bit raw. The back of my left hand and wrist. And the back of my right calf.
I am keeping these two raw places protected with Manuka Honey. It's best for healing if burns are wet compared to being dry.
Private Blog
Yesterday I Blogged to you that I learned that Blogger has a 100 Reader limit on access for a private Blog. This means that I am not able to take my Blog private.
I would not give up Blogging for anything!
So, there it is. My Blog shall remain public. I'll just handle what comes my way because of my Blog. Let those bad folks take their best shot!
10:28am:
Heading out!
The Scampy RV Team is heading out of Beaverton!
We are Salem bound. On Friday, AJ's Auto Service is installing Scampy's replacement grey water tank.
No more catching sink water in a plastic milk bottle!
Milk bottle bypass
4:14pm:
Bush's Pasture Park
We have arrived in Salem and are Afternoon Camped in the lovely, Bush's Pasture Park. People come here to jog along the park's paths. Or just to look at the many squirrels.
I do not desire to be a complainer. However, earlier today my left elbow began to hurt. And now, it's getting swollen. What's this!!?? I did not need one more pain!

A Bath tub is a good question to post to your readers
ReplyDeleteif you've ever stayed in a hotel what do you use the bathtub for
Please leave a comment
You can open up a whole Pandora's box just for that question
Well lack of snow you can write your name on the wall and that's just for starters
Personally I cringe every time I take a shower and one and I don't care whether it's Motel 6 or the Hyatt Regency but it would be interesting to here other guests Experience and point of View
Mister ed,
DeleteI used the bath tub to soak in. The warm water is pleasant for me. Also, I washed myself in the tub. First time bathing for me, since I got burned.
George
.
Before retiring this summer, I had to stay in a motel once or twice a week as part of my job.
ReplyDeleteAll motels have good and bad locations, but in most cases i preferred to stay at Motel 6. They had the cleanest rooms overall, largely because their current generation rooms are designed to be low maintenance. Going to hardwood flooring and eliminating the dirt catching carpeting is a major improvement, plus the furnishings are designed to eliminate hidden spaces where bugs and vermin can hide out.
Lou Schneider,
DeleteI just noticed the hardwood flooring. I like that too.
Who knows what is in/on a carpet!

George, Glad you settled your legal matter. It was something that was just in the way. I think the charge was nonsense and even the fine was excessive but it was wise to get it behind you. As you know I am very involved with legal matters and this was the ugly part of our system. Happy you are healing. With respect to tubs, we have eliminated all of them in remodeling projects in our homes. I guess if we need a tub we will rent a room for a night. Now I will acknowledge the showers are pretty fancy with many options including sitting.
ReplyDeleteBob, we have done the same in our bathroom remodels; there are so many ways with so many options today when replacing bathroom showers and tubs. They are like little SPA areas with massage shower heads. However, it would be nice to have a jacuzzi for massage of aches and pains.
DeleteBob West,
DeleteThanks for agreeing with me on the legal matter.
With that matter settled, I am free to travel.
Also, the trial date was set for December. I did not wish to be RVing in Oregon during the winter!
George
.
George, I have looked and looked for the terms of your settlement and can't seem to find it. What were they?
DeleteTom Pawka,
DeleteI did not feel that is was a good idea to publish that.
George
.
I am glad you are feeling better! Also, I would like for you to give your opinion of using the Manuka honey on your burns. Is this the treatment that has helped heal your burns? I have read about the healing benefits of Manuka honey, and it sounds like a miracle in a bottle. Expensive, but effective. I would like to hear your experience and opinion on this.
ReplyDeleteLolalo,
DeleteI am using Manuka Honey in order to keep my raw burn areas wet. Wounds heal best when wet.
George

It's been YEARS (15+) since I last stayed at a Motel 6 (6 because it used to cost $6 a night... those days are long gone!). I've never seen one that had a bathtub. They've always been showers only. I knew they were remodeling the Motel 6 Chain but 'WoW!'
ReplyDeleteGeorge, have a safe trip! It was a pleasure to meet you and Boid. Christine & I wish you our very best! Stay Safe! -Tom L.
Thanks, Tom! 😎
DeleteGeorge

Motel 6 has two types of motels under it's brand. The first is corporate owned and operated motels that were purpose-built as a Motel 6. These have showers only.
DeleteThe second class are existing motels that have remodeled their rooms to meet Motel 6's standards and have joined the brand as franchisees. These are the ones that have baths, as the franchise standards don't require removing them for a stand-alone shower.
George,
ReplyDeleteI'm just catching up on your blog - Wow it's been a tough couple weeks for you! Fire, Court case, dropped from waiting list, David's anniversary - Keep pushing on, it seems like you're coming out on the other side in good shape as you usually do!
(also - so glad you've kept the blog public! Been following you a long time.)
Best wishes, Scott in New England
Scott in New England,
DeleteThanks for your kind words.
You write"
"Wow it's been a tough couple weeks for you!"
Scott, it seems like a tough couple of months to me. Not weeks!
The burns still hurt. But I was thinking just a little while ago, that each day that goes by is a bit better.
On another subject:
Going private! Wow! That didn't work!
George
.
Safe travels, George & Team Scampy! Good to see that you are no longer shackled to Beaverton. Very happy to learn that you are staying public.
ReplyDeleteH,
DeleteThank you!
I like Beaverton. I don't like what happened to me in Beaverton. However, that's the way things go at times.
I am kinda happy too about staying public.
George
.
Happy that you are healing. Our very best to you in your travels... Take it slow and easy, George...
ReplyDeleteKent DeCook,
DeleteVery lovely comment for me to read!
Thank you sooooo much,
George

George, my emotions are very mixed regarding your accepting the plea deal. On the one hand I am happy you will not have to face a trial and a possible jail sentence.I know this will be a relief to you. On the other hand I fear it only encourages the legal system to continue to push the little guy around. They punished you for asking for help and got away with it.
ReplyDeleteCroft,
DeleteHow about this for your emotions?
The plea concept, as I understand it, began about the time our country began In the 1770s. Should I remain in the winter of Oregon in order for my tiny influence to impact the legal system here?
George
.
Did I miss something? Did you accept the plea and pay a fine? Probably a wise move and it allows you to move on.
ReplyDeleteToo much ahead of you to hang around for that silly business.
Suz,
DeleteYes! That's exactly what I did. Fine was relatively small. Nothing criminal on my record.
Thanks for understanding,
George
.
Was this the original plea offering? You refused to disclose the original offer.
DeleteSuper Cub,
DeleteNo! The original was harsh! Kept charge in criminal justice.
George
.
George, could be elbow bursitis. Read about it online and see if you think that's what it is. Could have become infected from bacteria entering from burned area.
ReplyDeleteJ & N,
DeleteThank you! I shall check that out!
George
.
And said "No way Jose will I take a plea!"
ReplyDeleteIt's understandable to feel that way and understandable to change your mind when you consider all the ramifications. Like staying in Oregon for the winder.
DeleteSuper Cub,
DeleteRobert Hines answered your question quite well. [Thank you, Robert! 😎]
George

When you get a chance why don't you change the settings under the comment box marked comment as
ReplyDeleteYou can aluminate those through your blog site

So here is my serious question and I've seen you post this numerous times recently
ReplyDeleteSo, there it is. My Blog shall remain public. I'll just handle what comes my way because of my Blog. Let those bad folks take their best shot!
Is it a secret or would you care to elaborate ??
Or is it Motel 6 going to charge you for bio hazard material clean up
And you don't want them to find you
Mister ed,
DeleteCome back at me again. I don't get this one either?!?
George
.
What are the reasons for the bad folks coming after you
DeleteI fail to get that, or is that just none of my business
Mister ed,
DeleteYou asked:
"What are the reasons for the bad folks coming after you? I fail to get that, or is that just none of my business."
I do not know for sure. A Doctor of psychology has advised me that a psychopathic personality might be behind these things.
George
.
George - swollen sore elbow? On same arm as that awful burn? Please go to a doctor because it could be infection working it's way up. Better to be safe than sorry. Lynn in Kingston NY
ReplyDeleteL Beman,
DeleteThanks! I've been to a doctor. No infection of my burns.
George

George, you have not spoken as to the quality of your attorney representation and how you might rate him on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best. Do you feel he assisted in getting you the best POSSIBLE outcome for a person from California (outsider) traveling around in Beaverton? If you can't answer this in a public forum, I understand.
ReplyDeleteGeorge I am so glad you are going to continue your blog. I have been reading from the beginning and you are my hero. I don't full time but since I retired like to travel for 3or 4 months at a time. When I get in a predicament I always think "what would George do". Hoping you have some pain free days soon.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I've thought the same thing; the last time was when the brakes went out on the camper in 100 degree heat and no place within 50 miles to repair them. But I think I said to myself, "Now, where is Tioga George?"
Deletekathy kelly,
Delete"What would George do?" is such a fantastic compliment!
Thank you sooooo much!
George
.
Dee Tillotson,
ReplyDeleteYou asked about my attorney. Great job!
George
.
Dee Tillotson,
ReplyDeleteYour comment:
"Now, where is Tioga George?" is another fantastic compliment!
Wow! I am sooooo grateful! 😎

Put me on your private list please...Otherwise I'll Miss you....
