Day 32

Happy New Year!

A couple days ago, a good friend told me:
"George, you are the luckiest person that I know. Even when you do the wrong thing, it comes out right!"

An example of my luck is how I came to be living full time in Scampy and Tránsito. You may recall that I had bought Twayler in order to get on the wait list at Jojoba Hills.

Then, I got arrested in Beaverton, Oregon. When I Blogged about being arrested, people at Jojoba read my Blog and learned about my arrest. The Board of Directors at Jojoba decided that I was not the kind of person that they wanted living there [Being that I am a criminal and all that!].

Jojoba returned my deposit money. At first I was shocked when that happened. However, I then found that I was happy about being kicked out of Jojoba. My life is much better being a fulltimer without a Home Base!

Day 31

A Trap for Scampy's Sink

[Project #1]
We do not care for the look of Scampy's under-sink drain lines. They are made from clear plastic. The sludge in there is ugly.

We have a product named:
Green Gobbler Bio-Flow

This Green Gobbler claims to clean stuff  like Scampy's sludge. But a trap is needed in order give Green Gobbler a chance to work.

This trap is fashioned out of plumbing parts [ie: Plastic tubing and plastic plumbing fittings]. We will publish a pic when this Trap Project is finished.

Day 30

Mazatlán Trip Plan

The Scampy team is planning to visit our friends Carol and Bill who are staying in an RV park in the City of Mazatlán, Mexico. We are thinking of heading into Mexico around the middle of January.

For how long? ¿Quién sabe?

This trip presents some interesting challenges. Nothing that we have not met before, however.

We mentioned before about providing for Baby Boid while we are in Mexico. Cousin Jacky has offered to take Boid. Also, Boid has an offer to stay at John and Mimi's home as well. Boid prefers to stay with John and Mimi because his parakeet friends, Buddy and Ollie live there.

Day 29

I Eat Really Good
I love to cook [ie: Prepare my meals]. In fact, preparing my meals is more enjoyable for me than eating that meal.

In the pic below, is my breakfast this morning consisting of:
 French toast from Jewish rye
 Scrambled eggs
 Pork chop
 Hot chocolate [Swiss Miss]

Chunks of a pork chop were an impulse addition. There were chops inside Mister Dometic purchased for a supper meal.

The syrup in the tiny bowl is pure maple. Only the best, right?

Day 28

My Blog is about RVing

Dear Reader,

Lately my Blog has drifted into a place where it should not be. That place is political stuff.

I got caught up in the emotional stimulation of it. Sorry about that!

All of my life, I've never worn a fragrance.

About six months ago, the idea of using a fragrance popped into my brain. And it wouldn't go away!

I chose Macy's to shop for it. Explaining to the lady that I did not know anything about men's fragrances, I asked for suggestions.

I got a kick out of this fragrance business! They give you free samples!

"What do other guys buy?", I asked.

"Georgio Armani Acqua Di Geo is by far the most popular in the USA", she told me. $65 bucks!

Only $49.98 at Amazon. But you gotta know what you want! I now give myself a spray on my neck every morning. I love this fragrance!

Heading out
Right after doing breakfast dishes, we are heading out. Gotta refill fresh water at the South Shore Boat Ramp [Next to Seaworld].

Laundry too. A bit of shopping. Need a flu shot at Kaiser. Also dermatologist appointment at Kaiser.

At South Shore
We did our laundry at a very nice coin laundry. Only $2 for wash. BIG parking area! We don't find big parking areas all the time at coin laundries.

The dump station at South Shore makes RVing sooooo easy for the Scampy Team! We fill our fresh water tank here too.

Note: I never drink from Scampy's fresh water tank. Get drinking water from  filling a 2.5 gallon jug at Glacier fresh water dispensers.

Day 27

Educating George

A few weeks ago, when I first encountered Audible Books, I had great hopes for using these books as a way of educating myself. And that idea still remains. However, this morning as I was listening to:

"Capital in the Twenty-First Century" [Link]

..... it was clear that my falling asleep problem, although greatly diminished, still remained.

Whenever I read a book, especially a book as this one, filled with facts and figures, in short order, I fall asleep. Granted, Audible Books do not put me to sleep quickly. As does the actual reading of a history book, for example. But I do doze off, from time to time.

Dear Readers
Merry Christmas!

Where Is Home?

I am guessing, that most RVers develop a new definition of "Home." I am no exception. Home for me is not a place. Not a location.

Home is being inside Scampy. And, oh my, how at home I am there!

For example, maybe I am returning to Scampy after grocery shopping. I stop with the shopping cart at the side of Scampy's door. Pass my groceries thru the door on to the floor. Then enter.

As soon as I enter, I feel the comfort. That feeling kind of removes the outside from my consciousness. The outside is still there. I still hear it. Still see it thru the window or doorway. But I am no longer a part of the outside.

Because now I am inside my Home

Day 25

Vitamin Supplements

For several years, I have been taking vitamin supplements. A ton of them. In my To-Do list recently, I entered: Vitamin Analysis. I wanted to learn if the supplements that I take were missing some vitamins.

Looking in the Mayo Clinic Health Letter [Link], I was very surprised to find that vitamin supplements are NOT recommended! What's this?

Now I'm thinking that vitamin supplements are bad for me. Instead, I should be simply eat a better diet.

A mystery

Day 24

Yesterday evening, Little iPhone captured something that he is very excited to share with you. It may be a UFO [Unidentified Flying Object]!

We were driving close to John & Mimi's home. A bit west of the City of La Mesa [Our former home base].

Up in the dark nite sky, there was a large flash of light. Out from that flash, what appeared to be an out of control craft tumbled very slowly toward the south.

We could see the shape of this "craft", because it was illuminated. It seemed to have the shape of a huge funnel, tipped up on its edge.

Very quickly, iPhone ran outside, taking pics on-the-run. But, although this craft appeared to be moving across the sky at a slow speed [Less than 50 mph], by the time iPhone reached a place with a clear view, the craft was too far away for that pic.

Day 23

Being Polite

I do not ask for much when a Reader wishes to make a comment on my Blog. However, I do ask for one thing! And that is for my Readers to be polite to other Readers. Also, to be polite to me.

Lately, some Readers have taken to being impolite when making a comment here on my Blog. Unfortunately, I got pissed off at some of those impolite Readers. I have had open disagreements in my comments with a few of them. And, I am sad at my lack of discipline in doing so.

Day 22

The Nutcracker

This evening, I am going to view San Diego Ballet's performance of
"The Nutcracker." This is a special treat for me!

The ballet is being held at UC San Diego in the City of La Jolla. I plan to get there to check out the parking situation during the afternoon.

Last year [2016] I went to see The Nutcracker at Granite High School in Apple Valley. There were a ton of children at that high school performance. So adorable to see those children all caught up in the Nutcracker story!

Storing things

Day 21

Making Scampy Wonderful

Living fulltime in a trailer the size of MsScampy, is improved sooooo much with convenient storage places.

When Twayler arrived in September, 2016, we went over to The Container Store and picked up a bunch of their various size plastic containers. When we began fulltiming with Scampy, many of those containers came with us.

A couple days ago, on a whim, we attached one of those containers to the inside of the door to Scampy's toilet/shower door. That container proved to be very handy! Close to our kitchen, we put a few condiments in it.

Now, there are six containers on that door!

Day 20

Shame and Learning Late

From time to time, a Reader will take me to task for doing something or other. Of course, that Reader would not know about that thing, if I had not written about it here in my Blog.

A long time ago, I addressed the topic of shame in regards as to how I feel about being ashamed for things that I do. I decided then, that I should not be ashamed of anything that I do. Why should shame have a place in my life? What I do is me. If something that I do needs to be changed, then I will change it. However, I will not shrink from writing about it to you, Dear Reader!

Monday, December 18, 2017

Day 19

After Everything Perfect

Somebody asked what would occupy my time once everything in the Scampy RV Team was perfect?

That's a good question! And I've thought about that myself. I am going to educate myself.

When I went to college, I was a terrible student! For some unexplained reason, I was not able to read more than a few pages of a book, without nodding off. Having this malady, is a non-starter for going to college.

However, I just recently began subscribing to Amazon's Audible. Wow! I have no trouble like nodding off when listening to a book being read.

Lately I've been listening to:
Capital in the Twenty-First Century [Link].

Day 18

Out Our Window

While eating breakfast [Cereal topped with banana and a cup of Swiss Miss], out Scampy's rear window we viewed  a lovely tree shedding its Autumn leaves.

The tree was sooooo beautiful! Little iPhone quickly captured that tree. And then Nat King Cole began to sing "Autumn Leaves."

The new lock

Day 17

Tweaking Scampy's New Lock

Last nite, it got a bit too dark to complete the installation of Scampy's new lock. This morning, we want to install a wood shim between the inside of the door and the lock. At present, the new lock is kinda loose. Because the screws that hold the the lock tight against door bottom out before clamping tight.

This shim will be fabricated from 1/2" plywood and will match the shape of the of the lock's inside mechanism [We will take a pic to show you].

Also, the two angle brackets that hold the strike plate, are a bit too wide and need to be cut down. We have the tools to do this modification. Even a portable vice!

Friday, December 15, 2017

Day 16

Big Day Today

We are Blogging to you from Denny's. We tried going online at our Nite Camp, but our net connection was sooooo slow!

We have a lot on our agenda for this Friday. The top thing is Scampy's door lock project. We want to record the lock installation in video. This video is a project in itself!

We are using iMovie to create this video which will be made up from not only action packed scenes starring "Yours truly!", but also still pics to show how Scampy's door will be altered to accept the new lock.

The old lock is fitted into the door thru a much smaller hole. We will be sawing that hole to enlarge it to accept the new lock.

Thursday, December 14, 2017

Day 15

Scampy's New Door Lock

The door lock that was installed by Scamp Trailer is a terrible device. Hard to close. Sometimes opens by itself when Scampy is traveling down the road. And, to lock the door from the inside, a tiny pin must be inserted into a small hole in the lock mechanism.

Really now, Scamp Trailer! You could not do better than this?
Scamp trailer owners have been complaining about this lock abortion for many years.  I joined Scamp Owners International which has a forum. Searching on that forum, I found solutions to the dreadful lock nightmare [Link].

Today, I'm planning on installing a replacement lock. I've been pondering how-to-do this lock installation for several weeks. Today, I take the plunge!

Day 14

The Joy of Street Camping

We suppose that you might label Tioga George the top-dog of folks living on the street. Because we live at a much higher standard compared to other street folk.

With MsTioga, we have been on-the-street since February 25, 2003. That was the day that we drove home from Manteca Trailer and Camper where MsTioga had been living until George spotted her there.

When we got back to Concord, California [Where George had an apartment] we found that we needed to go to a hardware store to buy some screws. After the screws were purchased, we started to head back to camp on the street near the apartment. That was the place that was home for us.

Propane hose

Day 13

Tweaking to Perfection

Little by little, the Scampy Team's progress on our many projects, inches it way forward.

It seems to take a lot longer than it should take. For example, the tweak to get the propane hose off of running across the center of Scampy's floor. This hose tweak was hanging fire for several weeks while waiting for a propane quality quick-disconnect valve to be found and received [Link].

With this tweak now complete, we have two situations:
1. When Wave3 Catalytic Heater is not being used, the hose is disconnected from the heater and is stored in the under-sink cabinet.
2. When Wave3 is being used, the hose runs along the edge of the floor as shown in the pic below.

Weight loss

Day 12

Big Life Change

In this Blog post, I am NOT suggesting for others to cease following their doctor's orders [Prescriptions, etc]. However, what I am writing about here is likely an event that is the most important in my lifetime! So, I am Blogging about that event.

This morning, I replied to Reader Chartrue 2 who asked me for info about my medical care, prescription meds, etc.

You may read my comment/reply to Reader Chartrue 2 by clicking [Here].

However, my going off all prescription meds had other effects on me. Perhaps not as dramatic, but extremely significant for my health.

During the approximate 6-months period after I went off all prescription meds [Beginning June, 2016], my body weight began to decrease. I have weighed the same for decades. And then, in this short period of about 6-months, my weight decreased from 185 pounds to 145 pounds.

This weight decrease was NOT because I had a terrible disease [ie: Cancer]. I believe that my meds disrupted my homeostasis [Link]. It is my belief that prescription medications had the effect of reducing my body's sensitivity to know when I needed [or did not need] nutrition. As a result, I maintained a much higher body weight.

San Diego

Day 11

Nite Camp Park

We have stayed the nite at a place that Señor Tránsito has named Nite Camp Park. We are on a wide, quiet and very flat street. Hardly any road crown here. We love that!

Our Nite Camp

Day 10

The harder it is.....

.......The better it gets!

Is it the struggle that makes me so darn happy?

That seems to be what happened yesterday after the round of golf. I was sooooo exhausted that I had to sorta drag myself back to Scampy. Set up the bed and plunk myself down. I slept for about two hours.

On waking up, I lay there. Wondering what had happened. But the thought came to me, that what ever had caused me to be so exhausted, I felt so good about it.

Friday, December 08, 2017

Day 9

1st Golf in Six Months

I've just now returned from a round of golf. There has been no golfing for me since last May!

I played with my new Divkin golf club. Do you want to know my score? It's 111 for 18 holes!!

Thursday, December 07, 2017

Day 8

On The Level

My experience with balance has been, the older I get, the more that I am challenged with balance. When I make Nite Camps on a street, often the street is way out of being level. In these situations, I'm constantly correcting to keep from toppling over!

Recently, I Nite Camped in a town whose streets had much bigger than average crowns. The gutters were way low! During my Nite Camp in this town, many times I would lean kinda uncontrolled into Scampy's lowest wall!

I've been mulling over doing a simple leveling device. A bottle jack attached to an extension rod.

Bottle jack attached to extension rod

Note: My balance has definitely improved because I do not let balance issues stop me! [ie: Keep doing stuff even though I may fall down occasionally] .

Day 6

Best Friends

I am very fortunate to have two best friends. Pete Olson and John Porter.

I first met both of these guys in 2003. Both began reading my Blog. Thru that Blog connection, friendship blossomed!

I last met with Pete and his wife Frederika a few days ago during my trip south. I am heading over to see John and his wife Mimi this morning.
Pretty neat, huh?

Note: I've titled this Blog post, "Home." In my mind, San Diego is my home.

Tuesday, December 05, 2017

Day 5

Visiting Laguna Woods

I arrived here in Laguna Woods yesterday to take Evie [My friend and former wife] out for lunch. We had a really good time together. Always do!

Also yesterday, I phoned Cousin Jacky [Who also lives in Laguna Woods] to ask her out for breakfast this morning. She wasn't home. So I planned to call her again this morning. But she was still not home. That's when I recalled that a couple of months ago, Jacky told me that she was planning a cruise to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!

Monday, December 04, 2017

Day 4

Twayler's Movie

We are publishing our Twayler Movie below. This was really hard to do. I am not  complaining. It's just not easy.

I was hoping to put titles at the beginning and closing credits at the end. That will have to wait for a future video after I figure out how to do all of that again

Cooking Food

Day 3

Nearly every day I go to a grocery market in order to get stuff for my supper. On the way to the market, I figure out what I'll eat [Mexican, Italian, steak, chicken, pasta].

Sometimes the thing that I want for supper is already in our food stock. For example, one of my all time favorites, Fettuccine Alfredo. I love those wide noodles and the creamy sauce! "Newman's Own" brand is my favorite pasta sauce!

Day 2

Why Moderate Comments?
And other stuff

The Scampy Team's Blog doesn't have many spammers. Even so, it is necessary to control those few. Fortunately, Blogger provides a way to do that control. That way is called: Moderating Comments.

When I have Moderating Comments turned on in Blogger, I must review your comment and publish it. This stops all spamming.

The spammers who come around to my Blog, use different identities in order to disguise themselves. They may publish their comments for awhile being polite and respectful to me and Readers of my Blog.

But eventually spammers reveals themselves.

Heading out!

Day 1

On The Road Again

The Scampy Team just left Lone Wolf Colony RV Park. Rick from R&R Towing arrived right at 8am. He hooked up to Twayler, and towed her to Site #24 in the Lone Wolf storage lot. Everything went sooooo smoothe!

After we turned in our shower room key and gate remote to the office, we headed west to go to Denny's for breakfast [Where we are right now!].

MsTwayler backing in to Storage Site #24
