Day 15
Scampy's New Door Lock
7:27am:
The door lock that was installed by Scamp Trailer is a terrible device. Hard to close. Sometimes opens by itself when Scampy is traveling down the road. And, to lock the door from the inside, a tiny pin must be inserted into a small hole in the lock mechanism.
Really now, Scamp Trailer! You could not do better than this?
.
Scamp trailer owners have been complaining about this lock abortion for many years. I joined Scamp Owners International which has a forum. Searching on that forum, I found solutions to the dreadful lock nightmare [Link].
Today, I'm planning on installing a replacement lock. I've been pondering how-to-do this lock installation for several weeks. Today, I take the plunge!
.
8:11am:
Beat aging
Lately, I've noticed that my physical coordination has improved quite a bit. Things like grabbing something that I knocked off a table before it hits the floor.
What could have caused this coordination improvement? I am thinking that being a whole lot more active than I have for years, may be the key.
Could it be food? Maybe I have discovered the fountain of youth?
There are other things as well!
➜ Standing up from sitting on the floor without holding on to something for support.
➜ Picking up an object lying on the floor by simply bending over and picking it up.
➜ Easily put on my pants, shirts and shoes.
➜ Memory [Not a physical condition] has improved a huge amount!
2:30pm:
Lock project
Well, the changing out of Scampy's door lock will have to wait. I've been poking around doing stuff, and now it is too late to begin the door lock change out.
We need several hours to complete the door lock project. We do NOT want to end the day with the lock project unfinished!
Instead, we are installing dark film on the drivers side window. Also, changing out the screws that secure Scampy's electrical panel.
.
Exercising! Does wonders for the mind and body.
ReplyDeleteHi Dee,
DeleteYou are sooooo right!
And to think. I had to get to be my age [80] to understand how much benefit I get from being really active! 😎
George

I agree - exercise is the best remedy for old age.
ReplyDeleteAloha, Juanito!
DeleteYou been snorkeling? Are the fishies gorgeous?
Su amigo,

To install your door lock I'll give you a 15 year-old professional
ReplyDeleteIf it takes you more than 20 minutes you need to hang up your screwdrivers

Hi Ed,
DeleteI just watched the video you recommended me viewing.
I am guessing that you believe that doing stuff FAST is the thing for me. Perhaps my major objective?
It's actually:
1. Conceiving something needing doing.
2. Planning doing it.
3. Doing it.
4. Correcting what I did wrong.
5. Standing back and admiring my work!
Ed, does it get any better than that? 😎
George
.
OK we can change the work time to 40 minutes but here's my other question
DeleteIf the old Lock and the new lock are identical how is that going to solve the door problem
Has the new company re-designed the internal components
George is not replacing a lock with an identical lock. It's a little bit trickier than that. Check out George's link to Scampy forum.
DeleteEd,
DeleteI'll post a pic of old and new lock so that you will know about them.
Tioga George

You're the bomb, George!
ReplyDeleteHi Joan,
DeleteYou mean "Bomb" as in:
"An outstandingly good person or thing?"
If yes, then I accept the honor of being the bomb!
George
.
That's the bomb too!
