History & Maintenance

Today I spent the day studying history and establishing a detailing routine for Scampy and Tránsito.

The history that has affected me the most today is that of George Amstrong Custer and his wife Elizabeth Bacon. The history of George Custer that I had read before today focused on the Battle of the Little Big Horn where Custer and all of his 263 men died fighting Lakota Sioux, Cheyenne, and Arapaho warriors.

In fact, Custer was one of the most courageous field commanders in the War Between The States. Custer was brevetted to brigadier general at age 23, less than a week before the Battle of Gettysburg, where he personally led cavalry charges that prevented Confederate cavalry from attacking the Union rear in support of Pickett's Charge.

His wife, Elizabeth Bacon Custer spent much of her life campaigning to create the image of George Custer that we know today.

Until now, exterior maintenance for Scampy and Tránsito consisted mainly of washing. Today I purchased Meguiar's G18216 Ultimate Liquid Wax.

Also, Meguiar's G15812 Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer.

In addition, in order to correct small white paint nicks and chips, I've purchased a can of good quality gloss white enamel paint.

  1. Have fun with the exterior detailing. Meguiar's is really good.
Just finishing up watching "The Men Who Built America: Frontiersmen." This series is very interesting. Worth watching if you haven't already.

    1. Thank you, Kent!

      Your comment encourages me.

  2. Touch up paint from a Ford dealership or from would ensure a perfect color match for Transito with less fuss than using paint from a can. If Scamp doesn't sell touch up paint, any paint store should be able to match a paint sample if you can take one in.
