Sideswiped

7:48am:
Yesterday afternoon, while I was working out at 24 Hour Fitness, Scampy was sideswiped.

The evil-doer left yellow paint marks. Also, knocked off the lens of a clearance light.

A pox on the evil-doer!

11:39am:
Repairing sideswipe
Using a hard sponge block coated with fine sandpaper, we removed nearly all of the yellow paint.

Took about 1/2 hour.

  1. Awful! "Our Awesome Travels" and now you. I would go back to that Fitness Center and look for "yellow."

    1. Yep, DeeBev, the culprit always returns to the scene of the crime.

  2. Thought of another thing. Don't you have to sign in? The Center should have names for the same time.

    1. Hi again, DeeBev,

I'm not going to try and learn who the culprit is.

I am going to park in places where Scampy and TrĂ¡nsito will have some protection.

    1. Hi Bob,

I once read about a guy whose car hit another car in a parking lot. He wrote a note and left it under the wiper blade.

      The note read:
"Persons who saw me hit the car think that I am writing a note to the car owner with my ID info. But I'm not!"

  4. Bummer George! A pox indeed! Can that be buffed out? If you see a bright yellow vehicle in the parking lot in the near future, check it out for damage.

    1. Hi Jules,

I used a 3M Sanding Sponge, Fine Grit to remove the yellow paint.

    1. Hi Bill,

I do not feel that I should spend my time sleuthing around to find the culprit.

  6. Hi George that yellow pain looks like the same paint used on posts, by any chance are there any yellow posts in the parking lot or can you think of any that might be around places you been recently.

    1. Hi Doug,

Definitely not a post. There are no posts like that in the parking lot.

  7. You'll catch the guy who did it George just like you did the kid who stole your drill.

  8. Another but gentler solution is a magic eraser sponge. They work great at removing those marks. Good to hear it was minor.

  9. Rubbing compound is the best and easiest way to remove that kind of damage.

    1. Hi Bill,

As you may know, if you read my 2nd post today, I've already removed the yellow paint marks.

    1. Hi Ed,

If it were a post, I would have had to drive into the post.

    2. The reason i/we say a steel yellow post is the absence of automotive bumper marks
You find it consistent when people pull out of a drive-through and take A sharp right Hand turn, no you would feel it.
Also there's too much paint attached to the trailer
Automotive paint does not smudge like that
However oil base paint does if use on barriers or post
But I'll keep it a secret and not tell anybody

  11. Sorry for the accident, but Mister ed is correct. Another vehicle did not cause that damage.

Regardless of whether it is or it,s somebody's fault
What's really upsetting is the fact that George takes pride in his ride an to have something like that happen he would be spitting nails and be upset

  12. I'm glad you're mellow yellow about the whole incident...I might have been a tad annoyed. Glad it was an easy fix.

    1. Hi Rita,

You are right. I am mellow about this side-swipe incident.

If something happens that only costs me money or my time to get square, why should I become upset about it?
