Road Less Traveled

9:05 am:
We are heading out of Helena, the State Capitol of Montana this morning. Bound for the City of Missoula. We have decided to take the northern and longer route.

This is the way less traveled by. Who knows what adventures await us on this other road. And perhaps this one decision shall, in our years to come, make all the difference.

Whatta life!

12:21 pm:
WalMart - An Observation
Very often, when I go to WalMart, I ask for directions to the location for something that I wish to buy.

It is my observation that WalMart's associates treat the store as if they owned it. I asked a WalMart associate just this morning if he received any special training about helping customers.

"No", he answered. "Except when a customer asks where something is, he should walk the customer over to the product. Otherwise, the customer may get lost."

In my opinion, this WalMart way of doing things is absolutely fantastic!

3:34 pm:
Taking A Long Time
Well, this way to Missoula is taking us a lot longer than we anticipated. Because George had to pull over to nap numerous times. Highway hypnosis maybe? We have Vivarin caffeine alertness pills onboard. Don't help much though.

Apple Map informs that we still have 39 miles to go.

George says, "I don't feel sleepy now. I believe that I will be able to go to Missoula from here without more naps!"

5:12 pm:
Sparkle Laundry
The Scampy Team has chosen the Sparkle Laundry to do their wash. This is an eclectic store. A combination of a coin laundry, ice cream fountain and some food as well.

It's kinda warm inside Scampy. About 96℉! The temperature will go down like crazy when the Sun sets. But that does not happen until 9:05 pm.

Baby Boid has requested to be moved into the Sparkle Laundry because it is
air-conditioned inside.

6:17 pm:
Baby Boid #1 Speaks
We showed the video of Baby Boid #1 speaking to the guy inside Sparkle Laundry.

So, we decided to show you that video as well.

Baby Boid #1 speaking.

7:40 pm:
Higgins Avenue Bad Car Wash
The Scampy Team went to this car wash to get clean. We paid for three minutes. The car wash shut down after only two minutes.

I have been in business for myself for many years. And always gave my customers more value than they expected. That's good business!

This Higgins place is a bad business!

  1. Most Walmart associates are not on the floor to ask them questions and if you do, they have no clue where a specific product is located. I end up walking five miles up and down the isles with the associates to find the item. It sucks.

    1. Hi Rita,

Oh? Not my experience, Rita. For me, just the opposite experience.

      I wonder why?

  2. Our grocery store chain, Hy-Vee, mandates that their employees drop what they are doing if a customer asks where something is... They are required to take them to the aisle and point out the item. This has been their way of doing business since the beginning. Very nice!

    1. Hi Kent,

Yes! Hy-Vee sounds like a well run enterprise!

    2. I used to work for Hy-Vee when I was in high school and yes that is exactly what we were trained to do. I like it, being helpful.

    3. Hi Kenneth,

I am of the opinion that all good business operations [Grocery stores, hardware stores, clothing stores, etc.] train the people to go out of their way to help customers find what they have come to shop for.

After all, that's the main purpose of a company! To put the customer together with the product or service that they want.

I have had the same experience as you lately. Associates are there to lead you to whatever you are looking for. Probably makes sense since it’s the same Walmart you were just in.
I enjoyed meeting you and Boid a couple weeks ago on you first trip through Helena.

    1. Hi Otto,

I agree with you about what you commented about WalMart associates.

Didn't we meet at a gas station? And then you and your wife spent some time visiting with me?

    1. Hi Ray,

Agreed about lucky Boid. Even more lucky is myself!

I write that because Baby Boid is a special soul. He is always happy. He shares his happiness with me by simply being himself.

Boid does not even comprehend what it means to be angry. Or mean. Or nasty. Boid just loves being himself. And that shows in everything that he does.

It is a joy for me to be living with a soul like Boid.
