Rowena

7:33 am:
Do you remember Rowena? The first time that I Blogged about Rowena was on February 17, 2009 [Link]. When I first met Rowena, everybody called her by the nickname, Weng.

Since that time in 2009, Rowena and I have become close friends.

Today The Scampy Team will reach Beaverton Oregon. Beaverton is the place that Rowena calls home.

10:30 am:
Water Heater Cover
During my walk-around inspection, I found that Scampy's water heater cover is missing. The cover was still in its place last nite. Somebody mischievious soul must have come and taken it!

This is just an annoyance. A replacement cover may easily be obtained.

Scampy's coverless water heater!

1:56 pm:
Left Turn Signal Lights
I've pulled off I-5 and have spent about 1/2 an hour attempting to track down the reason the left turn signal light and the left turn indicator light [In the instrument panel are not operating.

The manual shows that fuse #173 is a 10 amp fuse for the left turn signal and fuse #172 is a 10 amp fuse for the right turn signal. But the #172 and #173 fuse positions are empty!

I have decided to continue driving and take this problem to Ford for fixing.

3:35 pm:
Auto-Electric Shop
We have arrived in the City of Beaverton and are on the phone right now with Damerow Ford in the City of Beaverton. I am typing this Blog post to you while on hold with Damerow service.

I tried to get in with an independent electric shop, but the two shops that I spoke with were booked out for many days!

We just now made an appointment for Señor Tránsito for Friday, September 28th at 11:30 am at Damerow Ford. Of course, we will try to find an auto-electric shop that is able to see us before then.

4:05 pm:
Señor Tránsito's Collision Repair
We have just spoken with our adjuster from Progressive Insurance about doing Tránsito's collision repairs. The body shop that we would like to do this job is:
Trachsel Body & Paint
Salem Oregon

We wish to go to Trachsel tomorrow. I am in the process of making an appointment with Trachsel so that the estimator from Progressive Insurance can go over the collision repair estimate with them.

5:10 pm:
Pioneer Radio
I may have told you about our Pioneer Radio getting all messed up when I had the welding job done for Scampy's tongue jack. It may be that the power of the electric welder affected the radio. But we are not positive about that.

We were going to travel to the City of Salem to King Video, the store that installed the Pioneer Radio. But then, on the internet, we found out that a branch of King Video is located right here where we are in Beaverton!

When we arrived at the Beaverton branch of King Video, CJ, a sales guy, took a look at our Pioneer Radio. In just a couple of minutes, CJ had the sound adjusted perfectly!!

6:50 pm:
The Olive Garden
I've invited Rowena and her daughter Kawena to go to supper at the Olive Garden located in Beaverton Oregon.

The three of us had a great time having supper together. Kawena is like me. She does not eat very much at meals. We both took out most of our Italian food.

After supper, the three of us walked over to the Scampy Team so that they would be able to see Tránsito's accident and the resulting mush face!

Also, we sat inside Scampy for awhile. I pointed out Scampy's new vinyl plank flooring. Also, Mr. Dometic's new decorative door panel.

Neither Rowena or Kawena would smile for this pic.
So, I said to them, "Say sex!" Funny how everybody
smiles when I say for them to say "Sex" for a photo!

PS: Look how big a smile I got from Rowena! She must really like to smile for sex! 😜

  1. Yep, I remember your friend Rowena when she'd come down from her house in Atacama, MX? to use your computer. Her house in Mexico was interest cuz it had no doors or window panes...just open air (if I remember correctly).

    1. Rita,

      You remember correctly!

Weng [Rowena] did used to come down to MsTioga in order to use my computer.

      That was in Aticama Mexico!

And Rowena's hilltop house which was made of stones, had no windows or doors!

You have a good memory, Rita! 😎

  4. When you replace the water heater cover you might want to put a nylon tie through the latch.

  5. Many times, the reason the turnsignals do not work is the bulb. The reason the one in the instrument cluster does not work is because that is how Ford tells you a bulb in the front or rear turn signal is burned out. Check the bulbs and see if any are burned out.

    2. No that wasn't me,George. I do have another suggestion for a tow vehicle, though. Jeep stopped making their Liberty model in 2012,but they hold up well for many years. The Jeep Liberty can tow up to 5000 pounds, I have one and it's great! Roomy interior, very few repairs needed, just normal maintenance. In case you want to see one I went on the AutoTrader website and found one 19 miles away from Beaverton,at Bickmore auto sales 2020 E Powell Blvd.,Grishham,OR.Their ad showed a 2012 Jeep Liberty for $13,229.Their phone number is 866 660 3916,maybe call to see if it's still there. -N

I lost the WH cover on my MH when I apparently failed to close it properly after working on the heater and it shook loose while driving. A replacement is easy to find on Amazon or Ebay if you have manufacturer and model info.

    I doubt someone stole it.

    1. Hi Joe,

So, you lost your WH = Water Heater cover on your MH = Motor Home when you apparently failed to properly close the WH cover?

And from your experience you reasoned that I did TST = The Same Thing?

Well, IDNWOMWHFALT = I Did Not Work On My Water Heater Cover For A Long Time!

      So there!!

    2. Pretty defensive George. Joe was just trying to be helpful. Most people that lose that cover, lose it for the reason that Joe offered. That's also the reason that the zip tie on the loop/closure tab became a popular solution. Those of us that have full body paint incur a significant cost by the time we get that inexpensive cover painted.

  7. I think your choices of back roads camping needs to be re-thought.
If you pick an SUV or a truck even so it has adequate ground clearance your trailer probably does not.
I am guessing your trailer axle probably only has 8 or 10 inch ground clearance
And your dump tube Would probably bring you other issues
I believe your trailer is a torsion bar Axel
However I believe there is a retrofit to raise the trailer up would sort of be your option

  8. Regarding your turn signal problem, try your emergency lights to see if the dash bulb illuminates.

    1. Steve,

Yes, I did try the emergency lights. The left-side emergency light and associated indicator in Tránsito's dash panel are not working.
