Bruised And Battered

12:53 pm:
When I fell yesterday, the wounds to my face hurt badly at the time that I fell. In less than an hour, those face hurts went away.

But later on, a hurt arrived in my right rib cage.  My ribs hurt especially bad when I try to roll over in bed. But the rib cage hurt is there every second of the day!

1:16 pm:
I would not Blog about this if it did not affect me so much. But the pain is present all the time. It wears me out! I usually am a bundle of energy. Not yesterday!

Last nite, I turned in to sleep around 9am [Usually 12 midnite]. I struggled with getting the mattress in position. Also, just putting on my nite clothes was hard.

John knocked on Box Van's door this morning at 8am, and I was still sleeping!!

15:08 pm:
I am at Mission Trails Regional Park at Lake Murray. I came here for the peace and quiet. I need resting time!

Peaceful Lake Murray.

  1. Hi George...hoping your pain subsides... seems building a bed frame about knee height with storage underneath would help your sleeping, clear up some floor space and avoid some items which caused your fall. It would then be a lot easier to get up at night for those necessary life events😊😊.
Cheer up as we know you will resolve all of this in a few days.
We have made it from Mich to Ozark, Alabama since last Friday. A little slower at age 80. We have FastPasses at Disney next Monday. We get to be kids again for a week. I carry 2 Buzzaround EX scooters for use at Disney... we can no longer walk for 10+ hours a day.
I think if you consider all the changes you have made over time you will smile.... you are doing what many people only dream about doing.
    One day at a time!

      Knee height bed frame? Maybe!

Thank you, Ernie, for sharing about your trip to Ozark Disney!

I am smiling now! What I am doing with Box Van, is a miracle come true for me! 😎

  2. Possible rib fracture...not much to do for it, they used to wrap the torso up pretty snug with like an ace bandage...or if you have a back brace with Velcro you can put around to help give the ribs support will help with the pain. Good Luck.

    1. Sondra,

I do not believe that I've fractured my ribs.

However, thank you for helping in case I do.

      Thank you for caring! 😍

A doctor? I have excellent health because I stay away from doctors. Except for in emergencies and skin care.

  8. George, if that new tank is coming from Canada, it could be rated in Imperial gallons, not US gallons. 26 Imperial gallons would weight 260 lbs, not 208. Do you really want that much weight up that high, when it could go under a bed or cupboard somewhere. That would make it easier to fill as well. Just a thought ...

    1. Road,

      It's US gallons.

Box Van was a U-Haul moving van. It has a gross weight of over 7-tons.

The weight of the tank filled with water is 208 lbs.

The tank will be easy to fill. Take my word for that.

  9. Yes, George... ICE as in "In Case of Emergency" page listing who to contact in case you are found to be in need.
You may to consult with Kaiser about that rib cage. A skylight would be good to bring you in natural light, and allow you to lay and star gaze too.

Yes, Kaiser is my healthcare provider.

      A skylight! Now there's a thought.

"Blogger Energizer Bunny?" I am taking that as a compliment.

  10. George, from what I can tell, your new mattress looks like a twin. I can't remember where you purchased it, but I also purchased a twin for my granddaughter (she is 17 years old) and was asked at the Serta mattress store if I wanted a frame with legs to set up the mattress. The frame was very inexpensive, and she would use the area underneath the frame for her many, many shoes. When she leaves for college, I intend to get rid of this inexpensive frame and mattress and replace it with a more decorative and standard bed. Temporarily, the twin mattress and inexpensive metal frame does the job; getting up and down from the bed, especially with bruised and painful ribs, would help you out. When you get ready to design your own personal bed with frame, you would simply throw away the cheap metal one. The store from which you purchased the mattress should have those inexpensive frames to allow you to sleep off the floor and get up and down easier with the rib problems.
