Assemble Drawer Cabinet

7:10 am:
Now is the time that my drawer cabinet must be assembled because that will bring order to Box Van.

When the two Señor Tránsito steel cabinets were taken down yesterday, there was no place to put the contents. Things are a bit chaotic now. Sometimes it is just by accident that I locate something that I really need within a few minutes of beginning my search!

An example of this is the role of plastic bags that line my wastebasket. As I was looking for those bags, I spotted them lying on top of a box of drill bits! A roll of plastic bags may not seem like a big deal. But imagine multiplying one missing thing by dozens of missing things.

7:26 am:
I am Day Camped at the Home Depot in the City of Lemon Grove. The first thing to do here is buying the lumber that will make up the cabinet's sides and back as well as the stiles and rails, etc.

The cabinet that I am building is European style or frameless.

12:38 pm:
I've just loaded the lumber that I bought from Home Depot into Box Van. The good part of buying plywood is that all the milling [Sawing-up] is done for me @ only $.75/cut!

I must also buy the 1/4" drawer bottom material before the rest of the drawers may be assembled. Also, I need to buy the material for the cabinet backs.

12:48 pm:
I received word from Newport Avenue Optometry that my new eyeglass lenses are ready for pickup.

I need those glasses sooooo badly! When I was talking to people on the phone this morning, I struggled to read the papers that we were discussing!

8:10 pm:
After supper, I was looking over the drawers to be assembled tomorrow.

It appeared that two additional drawers would fit into the 36" high base cabinet. And, there is enough extra lumber to fabricate those drawers!

In this pic, a cracked drawer side is being glued back together.

  1. Hi George.... read a few days of your blogs... You are just an amazing person, more skills and energy than most people. Maybe while shopping you can find the same T-shirt I was recently given... "80 is the new 60" !!!
    It was made for you.
Btw, I agee with the comment re a bed frame with storage area underneath. Easier to get up from and room for heat to circulate as it rises or as disseminated by the fan. A place also to relax for those naps you like. Maybe a "pull- out slide tray" near your head area for a flashlight or clock, kleenex, whatever during your naps or sleeping.

  6. Mr. G I know you're testing the fan down there on the floor but a better suggestion would be to attach it even temporary on your ceiling Bracket and then you ge it to blow around the box
The fan,,, Pretty cute little bugger aren't they

    1. Ed,

Thank you! I'll place the fan higher tonite! Also, the fan appears to do a better job distributing heat when the high RPM setting is used.

      Cute! Yes! They are adorable!

      Good suggestion!😎
