Cooking In Box Van

9:54 am:
This morning I cooked fresh food in my kitchen for the very first time! Hallelujah!

The menu was ham and eggs and rye toast. The ham was from my Christmas supper at John and Mimi's home. The toast was from a loaf of Jewish Rye bread.

My first cooked breakfast in Box Van.

10:12 am:
Yesterday afternoon I spoke on the phone with my Cousin Jacky telling her about my installation of my Marey instant water heater.

Jacky shared about her use of an instant water heater at the school where she worked. She told of the restroom sin ks having such a heater. "Each sink had its own little instant water heater!" she told me.

Wow! That is what I should have! An under-sink instant water heater!

And that is what I will have too. I have made the decision to buy a tiny instant water heater and abandon the large Marey water heater that I have now.

How did you make the toast? Do you have a toaster?

    1. W3,

I fried the bread in a pan to toast it. Very tasty!

    2. I've done that but it somehow looks better on your plate. Maybe it's the color of the rye.

    3. I remember being introduced to "skillet toast" while hunting with my grandpa. He toasted the bread in a skillet with bacon grease. Good stuff!

  2. Hey George—so enjoy reading your adventure each day! Interested in what and how you are going to use an instant hot water heater. We use one that is great and made by Eccotemp (Model L-5). Most of them require pressurized water systems with a minimum flow to work. Keep posting—I miss reading what you are up to when you skip a day!

I have the exact same model as yours I've had mine for about nine years now
It was used on my cargo trailer And my fifth wheel trailer with a 12 V pump and a 40 pound pressure reducer The only quirk I had was I had to turn the temperature setting fairly low but it was still hot enough A great unit
If you want to recycle your cold water tank and make it a extremely warm Low setting( 100degrees )water tank you can recycle it through the eco-temp .
When your tank reaches the proper setting the eco-temp trips off

  3. I believe the water heater that she's referring to is the 120 V under the sink on demand or water heater
Do you have 120 they're perfect for small use.
seems how you got your professional cooktop going where you decide to make potato pancakes let me know I'll bring the sour cream
    And applesauce for you .

    1. Ed,

Today was very dark and cloudy. This is the kind of weather that an RVer should use to gage how large their solar electric system should be.

When I have 650 watts of solar panels, I should be able to handle almost any weather and still have enough power in my battery bank!

      PS: Happy New Year!
