New Mac

8:42 am:
I am using new Mac Air that I bought from Apple Computer. It's like a loaner. When my old Mac Air is repaired, I will return this new one.

In the meanwhile, my LastPass file manager which I depend on, does not remember my password! Bummer!

9:50 am:
My plan this morning is to install my kitchen sink. This means first installing my water pump and water heater.

I believe that I have all the plumbing parts.

1:04 pm:
Do you recall about a week ago that I gave our recent hookup of my hhInsignia microwave oven a try? I learned that there was not enough electric power coming coming from our Little 1000 watt Honda to run the microwave!

At that time, I did not try our solar battery bank because the bank was so inadequate!

Yesterday I picked up my (2) Renogy Deep Cycle AGM Battery 12 Volt 100Ah batteries [Link] from John's home where they were delivered.

A little while ago on a whim, I gave the microwave another try. Only this time the electricity came from inverted power from my solar battery system.

The microwave heated up a cup of water, no problem!  The volt meter barely moved!

9:01 pm:
By popular demand, the ugly black battery has been removed from my solar  battery bank.

Good  riddance!

Isn't this much, much better?

11:06 pm:
I  wanted to go to 24 Hour Fitness this evening, but I did not go! Because I've had a hurt right shoulder, and I don't want to aggravate it.

I only have pain from my shoulder when rolling over in bed, or trying to get out of bed. The entire rest of the day my right shoulder is fine!

Anyway, I decided to bake cookies instead! Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Toll House waiting for baking!

Toll House waiting to be enjoyed!

  1. Hi George!

Your new Renogy batteries will stay better balanced if you stagger connect them instead of having both outgoing wires on the same battery.

Just take the outgoing (-) wire on the rear battery and move to the (-) terminal on the closest battery. If you trace the current paths through the batteries, each will now have a path with a single wire in it instead of the rear battery having zero additional wires and the closest battery having two extra wires restricting the flow in and out of it.

    1. David,

The black colored battery is functioning like a terminal block.

Soon that black battery will be replaced by an actual terminal block.

And....Happy New Year to you! 😎

    1. Hi Ed,

That black battery is not old. I only bought it about a month ago. Bad purchase!

My two new Renogy 12 volt AGM batteries are the right ticket!

Thank you for your email with attached pics! 😎

    2. If you take your old new battery and put it between the two new grey ones your balance it out
If you can set your MPPT controller to 13.8 v you'll be purring like a kitten
If you want to put those three batteries in a plastic container look under the boating industry for a battery boxes plastic they have a nice set up

    3. Ed,

I am satisfied with my present (2) Renogy battery setup.

      (2) 200 watt solar panels are on the way! That, together with my current Yingli 250 watt solar panel will give me 450 watts of solar power.

    4. My concern when I asked if you have 2. 200 W panels and 1 250 panel the mismatch of those 50 W
All you can do is wait and see but I would suggest at least two more batteries For your 550 W set up ..
that's a lot of power going down to only two batteries as your set up is now.
You could slow the float time down some by adding two more batteries

  4. So you bought a new MacBook with the intention of returning it when your old Mac is repaired? If so, that is simply wrong and fraudulent. I have lost much respect for you with this behavior. I thought you were an honest person.

    1. Jim,

Wow! So without knowing all the circumstances, you made a judgement. And then had the temerity to go public?

Apple advised me to buy a new Mac and then possibly return it when my repaired Mac was ready. Apparently, this is a sales ploy that works for Apple.

  5. I highly doubt Apple advised you to abuse their return policy! I made a judgment based on your statements, nothing else.

    1. Jim it's not unheard of for Apple specific stores to do that I too have had an Apple laptop in for a new screen Apple was kind enough to give me a new laptop you pay for it as brand new but when you return it they deduct that price and charge you for the repair service
It all has to do with that particular store that you use

    2. Jim,

What you "highly doubt" is exactly what happened.

Have you considered other alternatives? Perhaps you are just wrong. And you do not know what you are commenting about.

  6. Actually Apple does that. They want you to walk out of there with
something bought. And they always recommend that you can return
it. They're hoping you won't and I suspect a high percentage of people
are taken in by this policy/strategy. They do it on purpose.

  7. No, you have entered another person's private area and made - and continue to make - insulting comments, based on zero knowledge, only surmise. I am making a judgment based on your statements that you are an individual of highly-developed bad manners that excels at making himself unwelcome...
