Solar Panel Hookup

9:19 am:
Although my two new 200 watt solar panels have been mounted on Box Van's roof for several days, the panels are still not hooked up!

The reason for this is my lack of understanding of the MC-4 connectors for these solar panels. I bought some MC-4 branch connectors and still was not able to use these things to get my solar panels hooked up.

I have decided to cut off these MC-4 connectors and use standard crimp connectors in order to wire-in the solar panel's cables to the Renogy 40 amp battery charge controller.

Kicking Back

9:25 am:
I am at  Mission trails park at Lake Murray.

Last night I camped on a street that was severely out of level side to side. Sleeping like that puts a strain on my lower back. During the nite when I went to get out of bed the pain on my tail bone was terrible!

At around 6am, I decided to go to Lake Murray and found a campsite was level and sooooo quiet. I slept like a rock for over three hours!

My tail bone feels so much better now.

Apple Store in La Jolla

9:11 am:
This morning I have two things on my agenda.

#1. Apple has notified me that parts have been received for the sound repair for my Mac Air. And that I should drop the Mac off at the Apple Store in La Jolla.

#2. Go to 24-Hour Fitness and exercise. There is no doubt in my mind that I am in a depreciated physical condition! And that cannot continue.

For me to go thru the portal between the Ford and Box Van takes a little physical strength. I am able to go thru, but barely.

12-Volt Distribution

7:31 am:
In preparation of running the 12-volt DC lines, yesterday I mounted my West Marine distribution panel.

Also, I mounted the Renogy 40 amp battery charge controller on the same wall frame.

On the kitchen counter side of my living quarters, I need to send 12-volts to the water pump, Nova Kool refrigerator and under cabinet lighting. Also, 120-volt AC to the microwave oven.

The low voltage reading on the Renogy is
because it is very rainy this morning.

Three Hour Workdays!

8:44 am:
A couple of days ago I was over at John's home. I told him that I was completely exhausted. Terribly tired!

I told John, "The day before I had worked for over 10-hours".

John counseled me. "You should stop working at 3-hours!"

That's what I shall do from now on!

Bench Seat Cushions

7:26 am:
Yesterday, John sent me an email to let me know that my bench seat's cushions had arrived. So, I drove over there to pick the cushions up.

During our conversation, John asked me if I was continuing to exercise at
24-Hour Fitness. I had to admit that I had not!

But I am going to start again this morning. Because of my lack of exercise, I am having difficulty getting myself up out of bed!!

iPad Mini

5:47 am:
Yesterday I installed the cabinet that goes over my Nova Kool refrigerator. This morning I went about moving stuff from a storage box to this cabinet.

That was when I found an iPad Mini. I had forgotten about this iPad which I received as a gift a few years ago when I first signed up with T-Mobile.

I wonder if this iPad can be used to publish my Blog while my Mac Air is at Apple getting repaired?

Cabinet located over Nova Kool.

Olympian Catalytic Heater Controversy

9:52 am:
When I began to live in MsTioga in 2003, I would go on the RV.net forum to answer questions about RVing. That was before levelers. Before RV internet connectivity. Before solar electricity.

None of these things were used by RVers in 2003. And RVers were hungry for info about these things. Info that I had from my use of these things.

In 2003 when I posted on the RV.net forum about how much I liked my Olympian Wave-6 Catalytic Heater, I was lambasted for being so foolish to use this heater inside MsTioga. Predictions of my death were made.

House Battery

9:07 am:
Last nite I went over to John's home in order to use his electric power. John leaves a heavy duty extension cord out in his driveway especially for me! 😎

Because of the weather, my Yingli 250-watt solar panel has not been producing enough to keep my house battery charged. That is the reason that I have purchased (2) additional solar panels of 200-watts each. This will give me 650 watts of solar capacity.

All of this solar power is only necessary during the depth of winter.

Solar Panels or Cabinets

8:12 am:
My two 200-watt solar panels are ready for installation and are waiting for me over at John's home.

All of my ordered cabinets are also ready for installation and are waiting for me at Home Depot in El Cajon California.

I believe that the solar panels are the higher priority of the two [Link].

Equipment placement

11:03 am:
It takes a lot of my thinking about where to locate stuff before I make a decision. I Blogged to you about some equipment last Sunday. Here is where I've decided that equipment will be mounted:

➜ Renogy solar battery charge controller.
On the living quarters wall above my bed where it may easily be seen.
➜ West Marine illuminated switch panel/circuit breaker.
On the same wall as above but on the workshop side.
➜ Jupiter 2000 watt inverter.
On the floor of the over-cab cabinet.

Wall Paneling

11:09 am:
The time is approaching where I will be covering the walls of my living quarters. I could just cover with plywood and paint it. But that would not be very good looking!

I came across an Amazon site that had tons of tons of stuff using the search term:
Wall Paneling [Link]

Also, a company named GrosFillex that looked interesting [Link].

Did the Dishes !

8:50 am:
This morning for the very first time, I was able to "Do the Dishes".

There are no leaks! I used my jump-start battery for 12-volt DC power. And a Home Depot orange 5-gallon bucket under the sink drain to contain the grey water.

Being able to "Do the Dishes" means cooking in Box Van's kitchen!

Big time change for me!

These dishes have been washed!

This morning's breakfast.
French toast with maple syrup, ham, scrambled eggs and Swiss Miss chocolate.

Cabinets

8:21 am:
Yesterday when I ordered my bed-side cabinets from Home Depot, one of those cabinets was in the store's inventory. And, I brought it back to Box Van.

The location where I want to install that cabinet was occupied by my house batteries. So I moved those batteries to the floor underneath the foot of my bed.

3-drawer base cabinet, 18-wide x 34.5-high x 24-deep.

No Sound

8:44 am:
Yesterday I picked up my Mac Air from the Apple Computer store in the City of La Jolla California. When I turned the Mac on, there was no sound.

Not even a start-up chime!

I just now made another appointment with Apple/La Jolla to correct whatever is wrong.

Windows

8:48 am:
Some Readers have concerns about Box Van being "closed-in" because I have not provided windows.

However, Box Van does have something like a window. The portal from the Ford to Box Van gives me a great view of the outdoors. And also, the huge sliding door just waits to be opened!

View looking thru the portal.

Kitchen Cabinets

10:50 am:
Awhile back I bought from Home Depot a base cabinet for my little bar sink. Also, a counter top. This counter top is installed to cover that base cabinet and my Nova Kool refrigerator.

This morning I was using a Hampton Bay catalog that I picked up at Home
Depot to figure out which upper cabinets that I wanted to buy. These upper cabinets will have a finish which matches my base cabinet,

When these upper cabinets are installed, stuff that is now inside plastic storage boxes will be kept in these cabinets. And, those plastic storage boxes will be discarded.

My cabinets are this color.

New Year Brings Water!

3:22 pm:
Yesterday, in my last Blog post for 2018, I Blogged to you about by my fresh water tank never having even a drop of water put into it.

Here in my first post in 2019, I cannot Blog that anymore!

My fresh water tank has water!

Note: The water in the tank is at an angle because Box Van is camped in a place that's not level.
