Windows

8:48 am:
Some Readers have concerns about Box Van being "closed-in" because I have not provided windows.

However, Box Van does have something like a window. The portal from the Ford to Box Van gives me a great view of the outdoors. And also, the huge sliding door just waits to be opened!

View looking thru the portal.

9:57 am:
I may have Blogged about my hurt right shoulder. The pain only comes when I am lying down at nite in my bed. My sleep is interrupted often. Getting up out of my bed is difficult because of the pain. I have to sleep during the day to make up for my lost sleep at nite.

It is really a weird hurt. When I am sitting, standing, walking around, etc., I have no pain at all from that shoulder!

I have been avoiding exercising my right shoulder when I'm at 24 Hour Fitness. But babying my shoulder does not seem to accomplish anything.

5:10 pm:
Just about the time the Sun was setting, I reached the Mission Beach area of San Diego. There are lots of people here. Many in RVs.

I decided that if others spend the nite here, I would Camp overnite here too!

  2. George. I get pains in both shoulders in bed. My grandfather and father both have "bum" shoulders so part of me thinks my pain is hereditary. Like you, I get no pain from working.I also wonder if its the way I sleep. I sleep on my arm which is propped up on a second pillow so its at an awkward angle all night.

  3. If your shoulder isn't getting better it might be worthwhile seeing a doc and maybe an x ray or scan done. Good job on the van!

    1. Hi Judith,

Maybe you remember what happened to me from getting care from my doctors?

After heart surgery, my doctors prescibed a blood thinner named Coumadin. That Coumadin came sooooo close to killing me!

Now, I don't seek doctor's care [except for dermatologists]. And....I take no meds!

    2. I do remember that and think you are smart listening to your own body. However if it's not getting better maybe you need to find out what the problem is so you can fix it? Kind of like your construction project :)

    3. Judith,

I learned last nite that my shoulder pain does NOT happen UNLESS I am lying on my bed stretched out!

After I propped up my pillows with a board so that my back was at an angle, my pain went away and did not return.

  4. Is the pain at the top of your shoulder or at your shoulder blade?

Not that I have any idea what is causing it... Maybe someone will give you an idea.

Hope so. Don't want Tioga George losing sleep at night. He's got stuff to do during the day!

  5. When I fell off the ladder in 2015 following a cardiac arrest I must have hit the ground on my right side. I brussed my right ankle,my wrist and badly my right shoulder. Since then I have the same symptom as you with the shoulder. Only at night sleeping on the right. Doctor says shoulder wounds take many years to heals.
Take care and have good new year

  9. I have pain in shoulder when I sleep at night too. It hurts at the joints not by my neck but at the end of my shoulders. I wedge a pillow under my head and it seems to work. I exercise my shoulders to keep it from getting stiff and do weights to strengthen it too.

  10. I had a shoulder which hurt from impact to the back shoulder area. It hurt and I did not use the shoulder/arm. I ended up with what is called frozen shoulder. It's where tissue thickens & inflammation and through PAINFUL physical therapy the tissue is broken free. Keep exercising your shoulder especially raising the shoulder up straight over your hear and bend at the elbow and put arm behind your head. Do not lift hand weights above shoulder level as it irritates the area. Sigh, getting older had it's physical problems.

For me, this is not a getting older issue. It's a I am already old/ancient issue.

If it were me; I would not put any windows and I would try to make the pass tru (from cab to living quarter) as unnoticeable as possible. Because you can park in one area up to 72hrs. without the parking enforcement giving you a second look. Does your box truck have a sky light in the roof? Hope you had a Joyous Holliday Season.

    1. Patrick,

I am with you! No windows for my Box Van!

The cover for my pass thru is a "sham blanket" in a deep blue color. This sham blanket is very good camouflage for the pass thru.
